Senior Electrical Designer (full-time remote)

Job Description At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicated Senior Electrical Designer to join our talented team on a full-time remote basis. In this role, you will work independently on various projects as assigned by a Manager. You will also play a role in the entire design process, including but not limited to preliminary assessments, concept creation, design, problem resolution, and customer and vendor coordination. You may work on several concurrent projects, and at times may assist as a technical expert on a specialized design. Additional Responsibilities - Assists Project Lead with design computations and quantity estimates, and develops probable construction cost estimates. - Perform the role of Project Lead for less complex projects within the business unit. - Promotes the use of, and participates in the development of, company design and production standards. - Prepares reports, specifications, plans, and supports construction for projects. - Assesses the requirements of a project, breaks a project into tasks, and works with a Project Manager to determine the scope of work, budget, and staffing. - Uses computer-aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents. - Reviews drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company design and production standards. - Selects equipment based on recommendations of the Project Lead, and fills out equipment schedules. - Creates drawings of own designs, and produces markups to be incorporated in drawings by the design team. - Researches design options and documents findings for the Project Lead. - Keeps Project Lead and/or Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services. - Researches code issues and communicates with code officials, as well as other disciplines. - Makes clear, well-organized, and effective presentations to technical audiences. - Ensures that drawings and designs follow company quality, production, and design standards. - Mentors, supports, and guides Designers and Engineers who are early in their careers with project execution. - Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for design such as service sizing, short circuit calculations, voltage drop and heat derating, ground conductor sizing, and detailed connected/demand load calculations. - Creates specialized drawings, such as operations matrices, elevations, or details and diagrams. - Performs additional tasks or special projects as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements - 8+ years of previous design experience in the building design industry (for example: lighting systems, fire alarm systems, power distribution, etc.). - Technical or Associate Degree in design from an accredited technical institution or college. - Must be proficient in the use of engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD/Revit/Navisworks). - Has a demonstrated ability to manage projects, problem solve, communicate effectively with all key personnel, and manage time. - Strong oral and written communication skills. - Proven time management skills to juggle more than one project at a time. - Thorough knowledge of system design and applicable codes. Physical Demands - Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods. - Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required. - Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. - Must be able to climb ladders as necessary. Work Environment - Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions. - Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol. Travel - This position will require 5-20% travel or as required by the assigned project. - You may be assigned to a client site for an extended period. - Overnight travel or staying in the city of the Client’s location is possible, depending on the assignment. - Please review the IPS Travel Policy. - You will visit Client sites and must adhere to stated safety rules. - Must have access to reliable transportation. - Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis. Lead Project Cost Controller

Role Description The Lead Project Cost controller is accountable to develop, progress and forecast all phases of the project costs using the most current industry practices and software. Provide cost planning leadership and integrate with engineering, procurement, schedule, technical & construction disciplines for seamless reporting to ensure effective Capital Project Delivery. This is a remote job with up to 10% travel. - Responsible for project budget, invoicing, change control and cost forecasting for the entire engineering, procurement, construction and qualification (EPCQ) life cycle. - Work in a highly collaborative and dynamic project environment. - Collaborate with estimating, procurement and project management on project scope coordination, work package definition, contract development and bid analysis. - Develop & evaluate project control budgets with input from partners including clients, estimating, vendors and contractors. - Work with project team to agree contractor SOVs and certify progress, invoicing & payment. - Follow-on with accounting to ensure alignment of project forecast with current funding and billings to client. - Ensure appropriate back-up documentation for all phases. - Actively manage change control process. - Monitor cost trends & changes with follow-on validation & agreement of pricing. - Process CO’s for approval and incorporation into contracts. - Responsible for operation of integrated cost reporting platform. - Produce detailed cost reports, including budgets, changes, commits (POs), spends, anticipated costs and forecast. - Accountable for cost system data integrity as well as accuracy of overall project forecast. - Ability to produce effective visualization, graphics & outputs for team communication. - Collaborate with partners & scheduling on alignment of cost & schedule data. - Collaborate with team to support constructability and value engineering. - Develop and continually update projections on cash flows, staffing plans & contingency usage. - Provide financial and cost analysis as well as earned value and cost performance reporting. - At project completion, develop and record the project’s historical cost information and “lessons learned” for future use. - Collaborate with all groups to improve company processes, systems and intellectual infrastructure to promote organizational learning and continuous improvement. Qualifications - Extensive experience in project controls/cost professional on capital projects. - Demonstrated knowledge of engineering, procurement, construction and qualification (EPCQ) processes is required. - Experience in the Pharma/Biotech Industry is desirable. - Understanding of engineering, construction methodologies and technical documentation. - Demonstrated expertise in Project Controls & Cost Engineering concepts; project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling & closeout as well as billing/invoicing, estimating, forecasting, and variance reporting. - Strong analytical and computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in integrated construction management/cost reporting platforms (Prolog, etc). - Experience with data management tools (MS Excel, MS Access, etc) is required. - Knowledge of ERP systems is desirable. - Excellent collaboration, communication and organizational skills are required with the ability to prioritize and manage large amounts of information to effectively meet deadlines. - BS degree in engineering or related technical field, construction management or applicable experience. - PMI or AACEI certification is a plus.
