• Own features end-to-end, from architectural design and data modeling to deployment and monitoring • Champion practices that let the team move fast without breaking things • Design and implement highly scalable backend services, asynchronous APIs, and robust queueing systems • Embrace a GitOps mindset to manage deployments • Participate in technical discussions that actively influence the product roadmap

• Build and scale our capture-to-cloud pipeline (ingestion, uploads, processing, storage, access) • Drive performance work across compression, reliability, observability, and robustness of our data pipeline. • Build internal services and tools that unblock capture and operations teams • Partner closely with ops to shorten the loop from capture to customer-ready data • Help define technical direction and engineering best practices as the team scales

• You develop and maintain Java applications that help our customers optimize their processes and make data-driven decisions. • You ensure the quality of our software through careful code reviews and testing. • You explore modern Java technologies and contribute innovative solutions and ideas to our projects. • You work closely with experienced developers and other departments to develop the best solutions. • You analyze and resolve technical issues efficiently and independently.

• Own end-to-end design, architecture, and evolution of Subquadratic’s customer facing and backend APIs • Architect for Scale & Speed: Design and evolve the global control plane for Subquadratic’s real-time (WebSocket/gRPC) and batch APIs • Productionize ML at the Edge: Build the high-throughput inference layer that wraps our speech models • Optimize for millisecond-level cold starts and efficient GPU utilization • Reliability & Observability: implement distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry) and define strict SLOs for streaming stability (e.g., jitter, connection drop rates) • Security by Design: Lead the implementation of enterprise-grade security (API keys, OAuth2, rate limiting) and compliance controls (SOC2, data retention) for sensitive audio data • Define API standards, versioning, authentication, usage metering • Partner with Research, Product, and Infra to deliver new capabilities • Mentor engineers and set best practices for API engineering
