Senior Associate, Communications
Whiteboard Advisors
• Develop and execute communications strategies in collaboration with senior team members • Produce strong first drafts across a range of formats: press releases, op-eds, media pitches, talking points, event proposals, and blogs • Conceptualize story ideas and angles that resonate with journalists and move in the current media environment • Support and manage media relations, building relationships with reporters across education and policy beats • Manage client engagements: run meetings, set agendas, track action items, and ensure timely execution • Conduct quick, accurate research to inform communications strategy and written deliverables • Operate with speed and precision across multiple client accounts simultaneously • Contribute to a team culture that values candid feedback, continuous learning, and shared accountability
Job Requirements
- Four or more years of professional experience, ideally in a communications agency, PR firm, or similar environment managing multiple clients or projects
- Demonstrated success in media relations, including placing stories, building reporter relationships, or supporting earned media campaigns
- Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clean, compelling first drafts across formats
- Proven project management ability: organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable juggling competing priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills and a client-first mindset
- Familiarity with education, workforce development, or social impact strongly preferred — though intellectual curiosity and a willingness to build subject matter expertise matter more than a pre-existing background

The University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development seeks qualified applicants for the Department of Human Services to teach and provide content expertise for programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Opportunities may be for the Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and/or Spring 2027. • Own and drive marketing communication initiatives from conception to execution, ensuring stakeholder alignment and business success. • Drive the planning, execution, and continuous optimization of marketing communication campaigns, ensuring alignment with business goals and maximizing engagement, lead generation, and brand awareness. • Design and implement integrated, multi-channel marketing communication strategies across digital, print, social media, events and PR including event management. • Develop and maintain a clear MarCom roadmap, ensuring projects progress efficiently while adjusting for new business priorities and opportunities. • Write, proofread, and edit creative and technical content for various platforms. • Direct and manage external agency partners and vendors, ensuring timely execution, innovation, and effectiveness in campaign delivery.
• Developing and implementing communication strategies that support Missile Propulsion (MP) Sector • Create external and internal communications products, writing, editing, and distributing content • Develop and lead the implementation of communications strategies for the organization • Develop and maintain strong media relationships with key outlets • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure communication is clear and consistent • Advise and counsel senior leaders on best communication practices • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of communications • Draft strategic communications plans and manage crisis communications • Manage special projects, VIP visits, and other communications efforts as required
