Data Architect

Illumination Works

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of end-to-end data architecture frameworks (e.g., databases, data warehouses, data lakes) supporting enterprise IT systems • Define API-first, microservices-based integration architectures to modernize legacy interfaces • Establish metadata-driven data frameworks, including schema standards, data contracts, and reusable pipeline design • Define data models, canonical schemas, and data standards aligned to DoD requirements • Architect data ingestion, transformation, and processing pipelines • Lead development of data governance, quality, and validation frameworks, including AI/ML-enabled data cleansing approaches • Optimize data systems for performance, scalability, and reliability • Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations • Evaluate and recommend data technologies and tools • Guide as-is/to-be data architecture analysis, interface design, and system integration strategy • Mentor data engineers and ensure adherence to architectural standards and best practices

Job Requirements

  • Experience with U.S. Air Force logistics systems
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Strong expertise in data modeling, schema design, and enterprise data architecture
  • Experience developing and maintaining data models
  • Proficiency in data warehousing solutions (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query)
  • Experience with ETL processes and tools and large-scale data integration
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, GovCloud) and cloud-native architectures
  • Experience with API-based and event-driven data integration architectures
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and technical leadership skills
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 10+ years’ experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or comparable academic discipline
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Secret Clearance (this requires US Citizenship)
