Job Description

Field Service Mechanical Engineer – Turbomachinery

Baker Hughes

• Executing installation, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and maintenance of rotating equipment and associated auxiliaries. • Performing precision mechanical tasks including alignment, leveling, torquing, dimensional checks, and assembly/disassembly. • Diagnosing mechanical issues and collaborating with technical support teams to define corrective actions. • Leading customer communication, site planning, daily coordination, and supervision of craft labor/subcontractors. • Preparing accurate Field Service Reports, daily logs, punch lists, and technical documentation. • Ensuring full compliance with QHSE requirements, including JSAs, toolbox talks, LOTO, and Permit‑to‑Work processes.

Job Requirements

  • A technical diploma and at least five years of field experience with gas turbines, compressors or other rotating equipment performing installation, inspections or maintenance.
  • Specialization in one or more technologies: Compressors (BCL, MCL series, Reciprocating, etc.) HDGT (Frame 5, Frame 7, etc) Aeroderivative GT (LM2500, LM6000, LMS100) Steam Turbines
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and follow OEM procedures.
  • Proficiency with precision tools (laser alignment, borescope, micrometers, dial indicators).
  • Experience executing upgrades, NICs/TILs, or mechanical modifications.
  • Strong customer service, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • The ability to work independently, analyze complex issues and provide technical leadership with minimal supervision.
  • A strong Health, Safety and Environmental mindset and commitment to quality standards.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 70%, including internationally and offshore, without geographical restrictions, and a current or previous TWIC card or eligibility to obtain one.
