Kentro is hiring for an experienced Senior CMDB Architect to support our VA ESOM program with strategic technical leadership focused on the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database. In this role, you will define and govern CMDB design and implementation, ensure alignment with ITIL standards, and build the governance frameworks that support long-term data integrity and platform health across the program. Location: REMOTE-This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours. Responsibilities CMDB Design & Governance • Provide strategic guidance on CMDB design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance aligned with ITIL standards and federal IT requirements. • Define and enforce the data model, CI classifications, and CMDB relationship mapping across the enterprise environment. • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather CMDB requirements and translate them into scalable, sustainable architectural designs. • Develop governance processes for CMDB health, reconciliation, data normalization, and audit readiness. • Validate that CMDB configurations and integrations comply with VA platform governance policies and ServiceNow best practices. Technical Oversight & Review • Conduct reviews of CMDB-related configurations and development deliverables prior to entry into the SDLC, ensuring accuracy and adherence to government-mandated technical standards. • Stay current on ServiceNow platform updates and proactively recommend CMDB improvements and new capabilities. • Lead architectural reviews and define configuration standards to ensure CMDB integrity across all integrated data sources. Technical Leadership & Escalation • Act as a technical escalation point for developers, administrators, and product owners on CMDB-related issues. • Collaborate with product owners and development teams to address roadblocks, offer strategic recommendations, and ensure alignment with overall enterprise architecture. • Maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal platform support and development teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence. • Partner with governance boards and senior stakeholders to align CMDB strategy with broader platform and organizational objectives. • Mentor architects, developers, and administrators on CMDB best practices, data modeling, and discovery configuration. ServiceNow Support & Troubleshooting • Assist platform support developers in submitting cases, escalating issues, and troubleshooting complex CMDB and platform challenges through HIWave Support. • Provide support for identifying and addressing post-deployment CMDB issues or defects identified during testing or live production. #LI-SH1 Qualifications Mandatory Requirements • ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or equivalent advanced ServiceNow certification(s). • Experience working with or for government agencies, preferably the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). • Active T4 Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain it. Technical Expertise and Experience • 8+ years of experience in ServiceNow development, architecture, and platform governance. • Advanced technical knowledge of ServiceNow core modules (e.g., ITSM, ITOM, ITBM) and familiarity with customizations and integrations. • Proven ability to review and ensure compliance with ServiceNow platform best practices, standards, and policies in a federal environment. • Expertise in troubleshooting ServiceNow incidents and defects, as well as escalation with ServiceNow vendor support (HIWave). Project Management & Communication • Strong skills in pre-screening and analyzing project demands to assess feasibility, technical complexity, and platform impact. • Experience drafting and implementing workflows, processes, and solutions as a technical architect. • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to foster collaboration with distributed teams. Additional Preferred Qualifications • Hands-on experience with Agile and/or ITIL frameworks. • Advanced configuration knowledge with the ServiceNow SDLC module. • Familiarity with VA regulations, IT governance models, and software standards.
