• Build AI voice agent solutions within the IntelePeer SmartFlow platform — configuring conversational flows, NLU intent models, business rule logic, slot-filling patterns, and multi-turn dialogue structures from approved design specifications. • Translate workflow design documents produced by the Healthcare AI Workflow Solutions team into precise, testable agent configurations that faithfully implement the intended customer experience. • Identify and resolve ambiguities in design specifications before build begins — escalating design gaps to the Director and Workflow Solutions team rather than making undocumented interpretation calls independently. • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate build velocity, generate configuration drafts, and identify coverage gaps in conversational flows. • Build and maintain real-time integrations between AI agents and healthcare data systems — including EHR/PM platforms such as Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Epic, and athenahealth — enabling agents to retrieve and act on live patient and scheduling data. • Implement API integrations following IntelePeer's standards for authentication, error handling, retry logic, and data transformation — ensuring integrations are robust, well-documented, and maintainable. • Test integrations under realistic data conditions including edge cases, missing data states, API latency, and failure scenarios — validating that fallback behavior is safe and patient-appropriate. • Conduct thorough self-testing of all AI agent builds before advancing to formal QA — including functional testing of all defined flows, boundary condition testing, integration validation, and end-to-end scenario testing. • Collaborate with QA Engineers to support test case development, reproduce defects, and validate fixes — treating QA feedback as a quality partnership rather than a handoff. • Maintain accurate build documentation — including configuration change logs, integration specs, and known limitations — so QA and Customer Success always have a current picture of what was built and why. • Actively contribute to the team's testing frameworks and best practices, helping improve the efficiency and coverage of quality processes over time.

Aledade is recruiting for 2026 Summer Interns! Interns receive guidance from senior leaders and take part in substantive, hands-on projects that foster an understanding of overall operations at Aledade and the function of our complex healthcare system in general. This internship will begin on June 1st, 2026, and last for 10 weeks until August 7th, 2026. The objective of this AI Researcher internship is to research, build, and prototype an AI reasoning agent that processes ambient visit audio and translates it into an "Intelligent Care Handoff." The intern will design a system to surface specific clinical artifacts directly within the Aledade EHR Overlay for human-in-the-loop (HITL) approval. The internship has a duration of 3 to 6 months, starting in the Summer of 2026. Primary Duties - Multi-Audience NLP Synthesis (30%): Build a reasoning engine that ingests ambient visit audio/transcripts and generates three distinct outputs from a single conversation. These outputs include a Specialist Referral Justification, Care Management Tasks, and a Patient Action Plan. - Decoupled UI Integration (25%): Stage these generated artifacts in the existing Aledade Overlay "Magic Draft" UI as simple "Click-to-Copy" or "Click-to-Route" modules, avoiding dependencies on active EHR DOM manipulation. - Automated Clinical Evaluation (25%): Implement LLM evaluation pipelines (e.g., LLM-as-a-judge) to assess the accuracy of the Patient Action Plan and ensure the Referral Justification captures the correct clinical context. - Deploy & Measure Potential ROI (20%): Ship the alpha prototype to a controlled pilot cohort or simulated environment. Measure potential reductions in post-visit documentation time, artifact accuracy, and the shift in physician task management load. Minimum Qualifications - Education: Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Artificial Intelligence, Health Informatics, or a closely related discipline. - Programming: Proficiency in Python (for AI/backend logic) and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript, or JavaScript) for UI prototyping. - AI/LLM Experience: Hands-on experience working with Large Language Models (e.g., OpenAI API, Anthropic Claude, LangChain) and a strong grasp of advanced prompt engineering techniques. - Systems Design: Ability to build and connect APIs, managing the flow of data from raw audio/text input to structured, actionable outputs. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities - Advanced AI Architectures: Experience designing multi-agent systems, multi-modal reasoning pipelines, and automated LLM evaluation frameworks (e.g., LLM-as-a-judge) to ensure output safety and accuracy. - Healthcare Domain Expertise: Familiarity with Value-Based Care (VBC) models, clinical documentation practices, and post-visit administrative workflows (e.g., care management tasking, specialist referrals). - AI-Assisted Engineering: Demonstrated experience utilizing AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate standard UI and full-stack implementation. - HCI & Product Sense: Ability to design intuitive, decoupled human-in-the-loop (HITL) interfaces that fit seamlessly into existing user workflows without causing alert fatigue. - Analytical & Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to measure project ROI (e.g., time saved, accuracy metrics) and effectively communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical clinical stakeholders. Physical Requirements Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Extensive use of computers and keyboard. Occasional walking and lifting may be required. Who We Are: Aledade, a public benefit corporation, exists to empower the most transformational part of our health care landscape - independent primary care. We were founded in 2014, and since then, we've become the largest network of independent primary care in the country - helping practices, health centers and clinics deliver better care to their patients and thrive in value-based care.
