Project Engineer – Transportation, Roadway
GAI Consultants, Inc.
• Developing, coordinating, and managing highway design efforts • Preparing construction plans, right-of-way plans, specifications, and project estimates • Transportation design including roadway design and traffic analysis • Assist with developing and providing oversight for the preparation of scopes, budgets, and schedules for specific tasks of overall projects • Supervise staff to complete their assigned tasks • Identify project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supervisor • Maintain GAI’s procedures and protocols • Assist with all aspects of financials on projects
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states
- Minimum of fourteen (14) years of post-baccalaureate, progressively responsible experience in Civil Engineering
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledgeable in MicroStation with familiarity of roadway design software such as OpenRoads Designer desired
- Driver’s License

General Job Duties: - Collaborate with sales, project managers, and technical teams to develop customized proposals that align with client requirements and company objectives. - Prepare detailed scope-of-work (SOW) documents, cost breakdowns, and timelines. - Ensure all proposals are compliant with technical specifications, contractual terms, and company standards. - Analyze project requirements, specifications, and designs to develop precise cost estimates. - Identify labor, material, and subcontractor needs, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing. - Help maintain a shared database of historical costs and pricing information for reference and future use. - Leverage experience in systems integration to assess project feasibility and identify innovative solutions to meet client needs. - Understand and evaluate hardware, software, and integration methodologies relevant to each project. - Work closely with services and sales teams to gather necessary information for accurate estimating. - Drive proposal effort in order to meet client due date requirements. - Actively seek/identify proposal process efficiency improvements, including the use of AI and agentic AI tools where possible. - Present proposals and estimates to internal stakeholders as well as clients, addressing any questions or concerns. - Ensure that all proposals are approved per the company’s Delegation of Authority (DOA) requirements. Previous experience in proposals and estimating preferred. - Strong preference for experience in PLC-based automation of datacenter critical infrastructure, including cooling automation and power distribution monitoring or other Building Automation Systems related experience. - Preference for experience using AI tools and other forms of automation to improve estimating timelines, repeatability, and accuracy. - Proficient in office productivity and automation-related tools, software, and methodologies.
