Duties will encompass supporting all aspects of the financial institutions water and sanitation investment portfolio, including deal sourcing, screening, due diligence, and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will bring 3–6 years of relevant experience in investment management within private credit, with a focus on financial institutions, with experience in Asia or the Latin America & Caribbean region. The candidate should demonstrate strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including credit analysis, financial forecasting, and risk assessment. They should thrive in a dynamic start-up culture, excel at independent work and proactive communication, and can manage diverse projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate has team-building experience, develops effective models of communication, and demonstrates exceptional business judgment. The candidate should be comfortable working remotely and with team members in diverse geographic locations. Job Responsibilities Investment Screening - Support each stage of the investment process, including business development and screening, negotiations, due diligence and presentation to the investment committee. - Conduct initial assessments of target companies, markets, and regions to determine alignment with WaterEquity’s investment thesis. - Support origination efforts, and support in managing client relationships during the deal process. Due Diligence & Analysis - Play a key role in due diligence processes, including coordination with internal teams, external consultants, and potential clients. - Conduct financial, ESG, and impact analysis, including financial modeling and credit assessment. - Support due diligence processes, including financial/credit analysis, ESG and impact assessments. - Prepare investment documentation and presentation for the Investment Committee, detailing strategic rationale, financial projections, risks, and impact potential. Portfolio Management - Monitor the financial and operational performance of portfolio companies. - Support management of covenant breaches, watch-list investments or problem cases. - Track country, market, and sector risks relevant to the portfolio. Strategy, Coordination & Team Support - Support coordination with parent company, Water.org, in the delivery of water and sanitation technical assistance to investment candidates. - Work closely with Principal, Financial Institutions Investments, to refine strategies, process, and analytical tools. - Provide broad, flexible support to the team as needed across transactions, portfolio management, and cross‑functional initiatives Skills and Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA, CFA, or equivalent) is a plus. - Minimum of three (3) years of directly relevant work experience in an investment/credit rating role, such as in private credit or impact investing in Asia / Latin America & Caribbean. - Proven track record in executing debt transactions/credit rating of financial institutions in emerging markets, assessing financial institutions, preparing investment committee memos/reports, building and analyzing financial models. - Advanced financial modelling skills in Excel and strong analytical thinking. - Outstanding communication and presentation skills in English and Spanish. - Ability to work well in a team as well as independently. - Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced culture and adaptable to change. - Passion for impact investing and familiarity with retail or SME loan products in emerging markets, preferably housing or water and sanitation loans. - Experience in a remote working environment. Physical Requirements This role involves extended periods of sitting or standing and reaching. This role requires the ability to see, talk, and hear.
