Job Description

Senior Software Engineering Manager

ON & UP HOLDINGS LLC

Role Description We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead two core engineering teams responsible for our customer data lake, data pipelines, and the customer-facing UX built on top of that data. Our data lake is not just infrastructure — it is the foundation of our product. The quality, freshness, and correctness of data directly power customer workflows, analytics, and product UX. Both teams you’ll lead own end-to-end delivery, from data ingestion and modeling through to the front-end experiences that rely on that data. - One team owns our AWS-based data lake and pipelines, ingesting and transforming high-volume customer data. - The second team owns synchronization with Snowflake and the product experiences that consume that data. - This role requires someone who can work backward from customer use-cases, understand how data shows up in the product, and ensure we deliver customer value through a rock-solid data lake foundation. - This is a deeply technical leadership role, but your biggest impact will come from setting direction, aligning teams around customer outcomes, and delivering high-quality systems and UX consistently. Qualifications - 8+ years of software engineering experience. - 3+ years leading multiple teams or a senior, high-impact team. - Experience owning data lakes, data pipelines, or distributed data systems. - Strong experience with AWS-based data pipelines. - Experience integrating data lakes with Snowflake or similar warehouses. - Experience leading teams that own both backend systems and frontend UX. Requirements - Technically credible across backend and frontend. - Customer-minded: consistently works backward from real use-cases. - Clear, direct communicator who sets strong expectations. - Comfortable making trade-offs in fast-moving environments. - Strong planning and prioritization instincts. - Bias toward automation, testing, and operational excellence. - Track record of improving delivery predictability while raising the quality bar. Benefits - Competitive salary and health benefits for eligible full-time employees. - Additional benefits including 401k matching and a subsidy for internet or cell phone. - Generous PTO days, in addition to paid holidays that incorporate two days to honor and celebrate your heritage, culture, or traditions that matter most to you. - Half Day Summer Fridays! - A company actively working to dismantle bias in our hiring practices, foster cultural inclusivity, and continuously examine policies and practices to ensure equity. - A fast-paced, team-driven culture that helps you grow your career with learning opportunities, autonomy and ownership, and chances to succeed (or fail).
