Senior Payroll Specialist

AbbVie

• Responsible for processing and correcting payroll transactions for assigned countries. • Support pre-payroll activities and year-end payroll processes. • Review and verify files produced internally or by Global Payroll Vendors (GPV). • Enforce key payroll deadlines and respond to employee and manager inquiries. • Partner with internal stakeholders and the Global Payroll Vendor (GPV) to process payroll and resolve payroll discrepancies. • Review and validate payroll files (e.g., Payroll Reconciliation File, Bank File) and reports authorized for processing. • Assist in resolving input errors from third-party vendors or internal AbbVie stakeholders. • Support Year-End payroll processing activities and notify AbbVie employees about the availability of tax information. • Lead smaller global, regional, and country-specific projects and participate on global project teams. • Some travel may be required.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts, preferably with a concentration in Finance or Accounting.
  • 5–7 years of payroll operations experience.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification.
  • Working knowledge of Workday and experience integrating it with third-party applications.
  • Strong customer orientation and a strong work ethic with a desire to exceed expectations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, and to achieve results through collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and process-diagnostic skills with attention to detail while understanding the broader context.
  • Strong spreadsheet and database skills.
