Job Description
Senior Video Editor
rrreefs
• We're seeking an experienced Senior Video Editor to join a US-based media company producing conservative, news-focused content on immigration, border security, crime, and national security. • This role focuses on cinematic long-form documentary content (10-45+ minutes) alongside short-form social clips cut from the same material for YouTube, X, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. • You'll work directly with producers on scripted, voiceover-driven narrative content, owning the edit from raw footage through to published asset across both formats. • The production team provides scripts, sourced footage, and clear briefs; you bring the storytelling instinct and technical craft to turn that material into finished, emotionally engaging content. • Delivering every assigned edit on or before deadline within two revision rounds, maintaining a cinematic and journalistic tone across both long-form and short-form output, and producing content that holds viewer attention through strong narrative structure, pacing, and platform-specific optimisation.
Job Requirements
- Excellent spoken and written English with strong, proactive communication skills
- 5+ years hands-on experience editing narrative, documentary, or long-form content
- Expert-level proficiency in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
- Proven portfolio showcasing both long-form narrative work and short-form social clips
- Strong instincts for pacing, hook structure, and emotional storytelling
- Confident with audio mixing, colour correction, B-roll integration, sound design, and subtitle formatting
- Understanding of platform-specific requirements (aspect ratios, opening seconds, caption styles) for Reels, Shorts, and TikTok
- Ability to self-manage technical issues and file organisation via Google Drive or Dropbox
- Availability for 60 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, with US daytime overlap
- Responsiveness on Slack within 15-30 minutes during working hours
- Fast and reliable internet connection; your own laptop or desktop suitable for the role; a quiet working environment; a good quality microphone or headset
Benefits
- Compensation
- $800-$1,200 USD per month, depending on experience and demonstrated output quality
- Rate reviewed at 90 days based on deadline adherence, revision rates, brand consistency, and producer feedback
- Top of band ($1,200) reserved for editors consistently delivering first-submission sign-off at 70%+ with zero missed deadlines
- What's on Offer?
- Direct engagement with an established US media company with a clear editorial voice
- Craft-focused role with real ownership of the edit, not a support seat
- Stable full-time income rather than project-based variability
- Access to other job opportunities through the Reef network
