Job Summary Experienced Structures Stress Analysis Engineer for developing and certifying new aircraft and related product designs at Cirrus Aircraft. Also develops analysis and test methods used for structural substantiation. *On-site in Duluth MN is preferred with relocation support. Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions - Generate and review structural analysis of aircraft primary and secondary structures that includes detail part sizing, and strength assessment of primary and secondary structure and systems installations, as well as correlation to test articles using classical hand analysis methods and FEA. - Responsible for stress analysis and test documentation generation and review. Includes test reports, design reports, test plans and test reports. - Assist in developing aircraft structural layout. - Leads project assignments and takes responsibility for designs and design outcomes. - Anticipates project tasks. - Material Review Board (MRB) - Develops repair dispositions and repair substantiation for MRB non-conformances. - Develops FAA certification plans. - Develops and validates analysis methods. - Mentor and coach less experienced stress engineers and design engineers. - Participates in personal and department continuous improvement activities. - Recognized within engineering for structural technical competence. Knowledge of developing internal loads as well as component loads is required. - Classical hand analysis (including composite laminate plate theory). - Highly experienced with Finite Element Analysis (FEMAP/Nastran preferred). - Knowledge of FAA Part 23 regulations for aircraft certification. - Experience with composite repair design and substantiation. - Flight control system loads, and analysis experience preferred. - Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
