Practice Lead: Observability The Practice Lead for Observability is a hands-on leader dedicated to helping customers establish robust observability frameworks. While the primary focus is on database environments, the Lead provides broad architectural guidance across the entire technology stack. As a recognized thought leader, the Practice Lead stays at the forefront of the "Observability Industry," offering strategic advice and direct assistance with complex implementations. Our Philosophy: Open Source First At Percona, we have a strong bias toward best-in-class open-source tools. However, we recognize that customers may already utilize proprietary solutions. In these cases, we help them achieve optimal outcomes at the lowest cost while advising on how open-source components can add value and further reduce expenses. Key Responsibilities - Customer Advocacy: Act in the best interest of the customer. While you will champion Percona solutions like Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM), your priority is the customer’s success, regardless of the specific tooling. - Product & Partnership Influence: Act as a strategic advisor to internal Percona teams to improve our software and services. You will also collaborate with the Technical Alliances Lead to establish partnerships with high-value software vendors. - Business Growth: This is a results-oriented role. Success is measured by the revenue and profitability of the Observability Practice, its contribution to Percona subscriptions (Support, Managed Services, etc.), and overall customer satisfaction. - Thought Leadership: Drive Percona’s presence in the observability space through content creation, professional networking, and speaking engagements at industry conferences. - Service Design: Architect professional service offerings and packages designed for high market impact and successful customer adoption. - Sales & Marketing Enablement: Serve as a "Super Expert" Solution Architect during pre-sales cycles. You will work closely with Marketing on technical campaigns and enable the Sales team to win deals with significant observability components. - Practice Building: As the business scales, you will be responsible for hiring and mentoring a dedicated team to expand the Observability Practice. Why Percona? At Percona, we believe an open world is a better world. Our mission is to enable everyone to innovate freely, by providing the best open source database software, support, and services. We make databases and applications run better through a unique combination of expertise and open source software built with the community for you. Our technical teams are experts in MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB. Percona is proud to be a remote-only and globally dispersed workforce – we have colleagues in more than 50 countries!
