The Opportunity Hi there! I'm Esteban Navarro Garaiz, and I lead the Baseball Intelligence team at Teamworks. Our Intelligence platform is used by MLB teams, NCAA programs, and international clubs to make player personnel and coaching decisions — and this role sits at the center of how that value gets delivered. I'm looking for a Product Scientist with a strong baseball analytics background and the technical acumen to validate model outputs, drive adoption across our partner organizations, build internal reporting, and feed what they learn back into the product in close partnership with our Data Science and Engineering teams. Two immediate priorities: building platform observability and supporting NCAA trial conversions and MLB sales outcomes. We're open to both Product Scientist and Senior Product Scientist candidates depending on experience. The Role - Own the full client lifecycle for MLB and NCAA partner teams, from onboarding through ongoing adoption, ensuring partners consistently get value from the platform - Build and maintain a unified client health dashboard that consolidates Google Cloud, API, and web application usage into a single view of platform observability - Drive NCAA trial program outcomes in close coordination with Customer Success, with the goal of converting trials to paid partnerships - Validate model outputs and platform releases against baseball intuition before they reach partners, serving as the first internal line of defense - Partner with data scientists and engineers to design statistical validation plans for new and enhanced capabilities - Translate model updates and feature releases into clear, practical communication for both technical and non-technical audiences across partner organizations - Contribute to MLB sales efforts by developing customized materials, joining sales conversations, and helping demonstrate platform value to prospective partners - Feed partner insights back into the product roadmap by advocating internally for what front offices and coaching staffs actually need What I’m Looking For What You Must Bring: - 2+ years of experience in a baseball data science or technical product management role - Deep knowledge of baseball analytics, including player evaluation, projection, and on-field strategy, with fluency in how those concepts apply at the professional and collegiate levels - Proven track record of working with or alongside MLB or NCAA front offices, coaching staffs, or public-facing analytics organizations in a data or analytics capacity - Strong proficiency in SQL and experience querying relational databases for analysis and reporting - Proficiency in Python or R for statistical analysis, modeling, and data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Shiny, Tableau) for statistical analysis, reporting, and communicating outputs to non-technical audiences. Even Better If: - You have experience with cloud data infrastructure including Google Cloud Storage (GCS), AWS, Airflow - You have familiarity with Agile project management tools like Linear or GitHub - You have a background in applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related quantitative field - You have active participation in the baseball analytics community through research conferences (e.g. Saberseminar, SABR Analytics) or published research Why This Role The Baseball Intelligence team is evolving fast and there's real greenfield work ahead. Platform observability needs to become data-driven rather than qualitative. Our NCAA platform is just getting started and needs dedicated ownership and support to achieve its vision of becoming the standard for college baseball analytics. MLB sales efforts need someone who can walk into a room with a front office and speak the language. This is a role where you'll have direct visibility into how the product evolves and a real say in the outcomes that matter most to our partners. About Teamworks We're the Operating System for Sports™, powering 6,500+ organizations worldwide, from collegiate programs to every major pro league. Founded in 2006, we've evolved from a messaging tool for college football into the leading sports tech platform, with 500+ global teammates building the future of sports tech. Our solutions span Personnel, Coaching, Performance, Operations, and Intelligence - helping teams recruit smarter, train better, stay compliant, and win. Teamworks is an equal opportunity employer - if you live our core values every day and are honest, hardworking, humble, committed, innovative, and an all-around exceptional person, you'll thrive at Teamworks. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce and take affirmative action to not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, sexual orientation, veteran or military status, or any other legally protected characteristics. This policy applies to all employment practices within our organization, including but not limited to recruiting, hiring, promotion, termination, compensation, benefits, and training. Teamworks is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities who need assistance during the hiring process. To request a reasonable accommodation, please email talent@teamworks.com. To all recruitment agencies: Teamworks does not accept agency resumes. Join Us! HealthCare.com has become one of America’s fastest-growing insurtech companies, revolutionizing how consumers shop for health insurance. Leveraging advanced technology and data science, the company has developed customized proprietary products to better fit consumer requirements, enhance customer satisfaction, and take some of the guesswork and inefficiencies out of buying insurance. About the Role We’re hiring a Data Scientist (Production ML) to own and evolve our core production bidding system. This is not a research-only role and not a ticket-taking role. You’ll work directly with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to define problems, design solutions, and ship production-ready models that materially impact the business. We’re especially interested in people who are curious, pragmatic, and adaptable—the kind of data scientist who can move between modeling, data engineering, and software development as the problem requires. Prior experience matters, but how you think and learn matters more. This role sits on the data team alongside data engineers, data scientists, and analysts. What You’ll Do Own and operate machine learning models that run in production, including monitoring, debugging, and iterative improvement. Develop, train, and optimize models used in a real-time or near-real-time bidding and decisioning system. Work with stakeholders to clarify ambiguous problems, define success metrics, and translate business needs into technical solutions. Design and implement feature engineering pipelines, balancing model performance, latency, and maintainability. Write production-quality Python code (not just notebooks) and collaborate with engineering on deployment, CI/CD, and system design. Analyze model behavior using logs, metrics, and offline analysis to identify performance issues and opportunities. Contribute to data pipelines and infrastructure where needed (e.g., ETL, materialized tables, model inputs). Make thoughtful tradeoffs between something that is “theoretically optimal” and something that is reliable, fast, and shippable. What We’re Looking For Core Requirements Strong Python experience, including writing code that runs in production systems. Solid SQL skills and experience working with analytical databases (Snowflake or similar). Hands-on experience training and tuning tree-based models (e.g., LightGBM, XGBoost, CatBoost) on real, messy data. Experience deploying, maintaining, or owning ML models beyond experimentation (APIs, batch jobs, or streaming systems). Comfort working across dev, staging, and production environments. Ability to operate with limited guidance: you can ask good questions, propose solutions, and move work forward independently. Bonus Skills Experience at a smaller company or on a small team where you wore multiple hats. Depth in one or more of: Gradient boosted models and performance optimization Feature engineering for tabular data Data engineering / ETL design Model monitoring, evaluation, and debugging in production Experience improving model latency, reliability, or cost—not just accuracy. Prior technical leadership or informal mentoring experience. Familiarity with Airflow, Kubernetes, or cloud infrastructure. What This Role Is Not Not a research-only role. Not a role where requirements are always fully specified up front. Not a notebook-only environment. Not a position where “training a model once” is considered done. Why You Might Like This Role You’ll own systems that directly affect revenue and business outcomes. You’ll have real autonomy over technical decisions. You’ll work on problems where good judgment matters more than shiny tools. You’ll see the full lifecycle of models—from idea to production to iteration. Benefits Opportunity to work from home Excellent work environment Medical, dental, and vision insurance Up to 15 days of paid time off 12 company observed holidays 401k plan with company match Life insurance Professional growth opportunity Most importantly, an inclusive company culture established by an incredible team!
