This work is central to delivering a seamless and intuitive experience across Safeguard Global's products. We are evolving these areas into a modern, scalable, and event-driven platform built on AWS. This next phase focuses on strengthening backend services, improving system reliability, and enabling more responsive, user-centric functionality across all touchpoints. You will join a small, high-performing agile team responsible for building secure, scalable, and reliable backend systems that support critical user journeys and drive consistent, high-quality experiences for our customers. How you will make a difference: Backend & Platform Engineering - Design and build scalable, event-driven backend services using AWS (Lambda, EventBridge, S3, etc.) - Develop and support APIs and data services that power analytics, integrations, and product features - Own services end-to-end, from design through to production monitoring and optimisation Event-Driven Data Systems - Build and evolve event-driven architectures using EventBridge, SNS/SQS, and serverless patterns - Ensure systems are resilient, idempotent, and capable of handling distributed data workflows - Drive best practices around event modelling and service decoupling Data Platform & Analytics - Collaborate closely with Data Engineering to design and evolve data models using dbt and modern data tooling - Build and support data pipelines and storage patterns across S3, Athena, and related AWS services - Enable high-quality, reconcilable datasets across domains such as worker, payroll, invoice, and usage Analytics & Reporting Enablement - Support and extend analytics capabilities using AWS QuickSight and embedded reporting - Enable scalable, secure, multi-tenant data access patterns including row-level security - Contribute to the evolution of self-service analytics and data exploration Quality, Reliability & Observability - Implement monitoring, alerting, and telemetry using CloudWatch and related tools - Define and support SLAs/SLOs around data freshness, pipeline reliability, and API performance - Build robust automated testing and CI/CD pipelines Security & Compliance - Design systems with strong access control, auditing, and data protection practices - Work with sensitive HR and financial data in a secure, compliant manner Engineering Excellence - Contribute to architecture, design reviews, and technical strategy - Promote best practices in backend engineering, serverless design, and data systems - Mentor others and raise the overall engineering bar What will give you an advantage:   - A proven ability to design, build, and own backend or platform systems that scale - Strong experience with JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js preferred) - Deep experience with AWS, particularly: Lambda, S3, EventBridge (or SNS/SQS) - Infrastructure as Code (CDK/Terraform/SST) - API Gateway, CloudWatch - Proven experience building event-driven, serverless architectures - Strong SQL skills and experience working with analytical/data workloads - Experience designing and building scalable APIs and backend services - Solid understanding of distributed systems, data consistency, and reliability patterns - Experience working with modern data stacks (e.g., dbt, Athena, Glue, data lakes) - Familiarity with data modelling and transforming datasets for analytics use cases - Experience supporting BI tools such as QuickSight (or similar) - Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and production observability - Comfortable working in agile, iterative environments with strong ownership - Excellent communication skills Nice to have: - Experience with dbt and analytics engineering workflows - Hands-on experience with AWS QuickSight (or similar BI tools) - Experience in multi-tenant SaaS environments - Exposure to frontend technologies (React / Next.js) Our Global Benefits  - 👨‍💻 Autonomy and Flexibility (work in any way): Remote first, with the flexibility to include life needs like school runs and gym breaks in your schedule, all while maintaining a high standard of work. - 🌴 Generous leave: Enjoy a competitive leave package including paid bonding leaves for new additions to your family    - 🎁 Make a difference: Get 2 paid charitable days off to contribute to causes you believe in - 💰 Corporate bonus/SIP: All Guardians are eligible for our annual bonus scheme or sales incentive plan.  - ✈️ International environment: Grow your network internationally and collaborate across the world.
