We are at the front line of GoFundMe's efforts to protect donors, fundraiser organizers, beneficiaries, and our company from financial crimes and abuse. As a member of the Customer Due Diligence (CDD) team, you will be responsible for conducting high-quality due diligence reviews to ensure the authenticity of fundraisers, campaign organizers, and beneficiaries. This includes verifying identities and Know Your Customer/Business (KYC/B) information, reviewing fundraisers for indicators of fraud or financial crime, and applying established risk criteria to identify and escalate high-risk cases. You will play a critical role in enforcing compliance while maintaining a safe and trusted platform for our community. The Job - Apply established risk-based methodologies to review identity verification results and supporting documentation to confirm customer identity and authenticity of fundraisers and beneficiaries. - Conduct CDD and KYC reviews in accordance with internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements, supporting more complex reviews and escalations when appropriate. - Perform sanctions and watchlist screening and identify potential Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), adverse media, or other risk indicators requiring further review - Review fundraiser, account, and transactional attributes for indicators of fraud, abuse, or financial crime using established risk signals, and escalate concerns according to defined procedures. - Conduct onboarding due diligence on organizations, including verification of entity information, ownership details, and supporting documentation where required. - Document findings clearly and accurately in internal case management systems to support escalation decisions, audit readiness, and downstream investigations. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Payments Risk, Content Risk, Legal, Customer Care, and Compliance, to resolve due diligence inquiries - Respond to customer inquiries via email and phone related to identity verification and due diligence requirements, balancing risk mitigation with a positive user experience. - Use familiarity with common fraud and financial crime risks observed on the platform to support effective identification and escalation of higher-risk cases. - Support the team during crisis situations by setting up crisis monitoring protocols and proactively assisting affected customers and other stakeholders as needed. - Stay informed on emerging financial crime trends relevant to social fundraising platforms. - Provide technical guidance and quality feedback to analysts, supporting investigative consistency and adherence to team standards. - Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and operational initiatives that strengthen the effectiveness and scalability of the CDD program. This position may involve reviewing sensitive material, which can include disturbing images, videos, or text, as well as offensive language and other challenging content (e.g., violence, exploitation, or self-injury). Some weekend and holiday work may be required as part of scheduled shifts, as well as being a member of our on-call team for emergencies.
