OSP Design Engineer
Fiberco
• This position is responsible for project preparation of FTTX Networks from design through closeout. • Including but not limited to Change Orders and OSP additions, building and site design and development of the entire network. • This position will work closely with Engineering contractors, Construction and Project Management to assure schedules and budgets are met while working in a fast-paced environment. • Design and implementation of OSP facilities, including coordinating automated designs with field surveys. • Quality Control FTTX and MDU Designs submitted by Engineering Contractor. • Responsible for development of construction and cost estimates primarily for the outside plant. • Responsible for the operation of all applicable current computerized operations and CAD systems. • Work with Engineering Contractors to ensure that all FTTH designs fall within predetermined parameters.
Job Requirements
- Must have a comprehensive understanding of FTTH network architectures, including but not limited to Centralized Split and Distributed Split designs.
- Requires strong knowledge of MDU (Multi-Dwelling Unit) design principles, construction practices, and OSP standards.
- Candidate should be familiar with feeder and distribution routes, splicing requirements, fiber placement, and permitting considerations for both aerial and underground environments.
- Must possess a working knowledge of OSP Facilities Construction and application standards.
- Must be able to read, and interpret engineering drawings to include aerial cable placement, underground cable placement and splicing procedures.
- Must have a good understanding of Right-Of-Way acquisitions and law; and be able to effectively communicate with permitting agencies and private landowners. To include State DOT, County, City and Railroad.
- Computer based programs. Microsoft office, Adobe, Google Earth, QGIS and AutoCAD preferred.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- An understanding of Flexnap and Hexatronics a plus.
