Department: ICE | CASL Proton Therapy - Dosimetry Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: This position reports directly to the Radiation Oncology Clinic Chief Physicist and is responsible for providing physicians and therapists with treatment planning, calculations, quality assurance planning, constructing custom blocks as needed for patient treatment, taking required measurements on patients, consulting with physicians and other therapists in planning and delivering patient treatments and maintaining quality control. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in physics, math or radiation oncology-related curriculum - Completion of an accredited dosimetry program - Certification as a Medical Dosimetrist by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) within 18 months of hire Preferred Qualifications: - MDCB certification - Technical skill in mathematics and physics as normally acquired in freshman and sophomore college level coursework for science majors or in completing an accredited dosimetry dosimetry program. Math coursework should include 2 semesters of algebra, one semester of pre-ca pre-calculus and one semester of calculus. Math coursework requirements may be for waived for appropriate amount of amount of workplace experience obtained by working in the medical dosimetry field. Additional Information: Responsibilities: - Designs and develop patient-specific proton therapy treatment plans. - Performs radiation dose calculations using computerized and manual methods. - Conducts secondary dose calculation checks for accuracy. - Optimize treatment plans to target tumors while sparing healthy tissue. - Performs image fusion/registration using CT, MRI, and PET datasets. - Perform treatment planning quality assurance (QA). - Conducts chart checks for accuracy and completeness. - Ensures compliance with radiation safety standards and protocols. - Monitors and verifies correct dose delivery parameters. - Assists in resolving treatment or setup issues and recommend solutions. - Assists radiation therapists with patient setup and positioning. - Supports simulation and treatment delivery processes. - Maintains accurate records of treatment plans, dose calculations and patient measurements. - Completes and reviews patient charts for accuracy and compliance. - Participates in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research activities. - Provides guidance or instruction to students, residents and observers. - Works under supervision of the medical physics department. - Maintains patient confidentiality and data security. - Supports a collaborative, team-based clinical environment - May perform other duties as assigned Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience Required Documents to Apply: List of three Professional References (name, email, business title), Resume Optional Documents: Special Instructions to Applicants: Recruitment Contact Information: Please contact askrecruitment@uams.edu for any recruiting related questions.
