• Further development and modernization of our in-house e‑commerce platform (legacy .NET → modern stack) • Implementation of new features: product catalog, payment and shipping integrations, campaign and discount logic • Active participation in the stack migration toward modern frontend frameworks (React / Vue) • Integration of AI/LLM capabilities into existing and new modules • Analysis and optimization of existing modules: performance, maintainability, usability • Planning and execution of deployments, including version control and documentation

Job Requirements

  • Solid understanding of legacy .NET — you know how these systems work, can identify what should be preserved, and what should be replaced
  • Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server, especially stored procedures and T‑SQL
  • Confident with HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript/jQuery
  • Experience or strong interest in AI-assisted development — you are willing to use Claude Code as a primary implementation tool and know how to guide it effectively
  • You think in systems and architectures, not in lines of code
  • Structured, analytical mindset and an independent working style
  • Good German or English skills (at least B2) — we also work in Russian; multilingual candidates welcome

As a Senior Software Engineer on Upstart’s Event Bus, Experimentation, and gRPC team, you are empowered to design and implement high impact, cross cutting solutions that touch nearly every service within Upstart. We are a small and high impacting team contributing to Upstart’s North Star Architecture and need a product-oriented engineer who is excited to contribute across Event Bus, Experimentation, and gRPC internal tooling. Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Remote, San Mateo, Columbus, Austin Time Zone Requirements - This team operates on the East/West Coast time zones. Travel Requirements - As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. This team also has regular onsite collaboration sessions. These occur roughly once per quarter (~3 days at a time) in one of our main offices (Columbus, OH, Austin, TX or San Mateo, CA). If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.
