Solar Inverter Field Service Technician
Pearce Services
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair utility-scale inverters (GE, Sungrow, Power Electronics) • Perform advanced inverter testing and commissioning support • Conduct LOTO, insulation resistance (megger), IV curve tracing, and IR thermography • Identify and resolve inverter faults, communication errors, and performance issues • Support preventative and corrective maintenance on inverter systems • Work closely with monitoring/SCADA teams to resolve system alerts • Ensure all work meets OEM specifications and safety standards • Complete detailed service reports, logs, and documentation • Maintain and operate company tools, test equipment, and vehicle • Assist in training junior technicians on inverter diagnostics and repair
Job Requirements
- 3-4+ years of hands-on experience with utility-scale solar inverters
- Direct experience working with GE inverters, Sungrow inverters, Power Electronics inverters
- Experience on megawatt-scale solar sites (ground-mount / solar farms)
- Strong understanding of DC/AC power conversion, Power electronics troubleshooting, Inverter fault codes and diagnostics
- Experience performing solar maintenance with a focus on inverter systems
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and inverter communications (preferred)
- Working knowledge of OSHA / NFPA 70E safety standards
- Experience using multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and testing equipment
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
