Role Description At Avalon Holographics, we’re replicating reality! We’re building advanced holographic visualization technology that enables teams to interact with complex data in new ways, supporting real-time collaboration, digital twin environments, and mission planning across distributed teams. No headsets. No glasses. Just incredibly lifelike, 3D visuals! This role is about opening doors, shaping programs, demonstrating value, and closing meaningful opportunities. Success depends on strong collaboration with Avalon’s engineering, product, and leadership teams. You’ll stay closely connected to the broader organization, ensuring customer insight and technical development move forward together. What You’ll Do - Lead U.S. defense business development efforts for advanced visualization and digital twin technologies. - Identify and pursue opportunities across RDT&E, prototyping, and operational programs. - Leverage your network to open doors and map complex stakeholder environments. - Build trusted relationships with military users, acquisition teams, primes, and system integrators. - Lead customer discovery calls and demonstrations that clearly show how Avalon technology creates measurable operational value. - Translate complex technical capabilities into clear, mission-relevant outcomes. - Represent Avalon at customer sites, live demonstrations, installations, industry expos, and major defense trade shows. - Track programs, funding streams, and emerging opportunities. - Support capture strategies and drive opportunities through complex, multi-year procurement cycles. - Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams across locations to ensure alignment across customer engagement, product development, and delivery. - This role requires frequent travel across the United States to customer sites, product demonstrations, industry expos, and trade shows. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Defense Studies, or a related technical or defense-focused discipline (or equivalent combination of military, technical, or industry experience). - 5+ years in U.S. defense business development, capture, or federal contracting. - Demonstrated success introducing complex, emerging, or hardware-enabled technologies into defense environments. - Proven ability to articulate and demonstrate the operational value of new technologies to technical and operational stakeholders. - Strong existing network across U.S. military organizations, government agencies, and prime contractors. - Ability to build trusted relationships while maintaining technical credibility. Highly organized and methodical. - Experience navigating multi-layered procurement and acquisition processes. - Highly collaborative mindset, with the ability to build strong relationships both externally with customers and internally across distributed teams. - Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the United States and Canada. - Active SECRET security clearance or ability to obtain once employed with Avalon. Nice to Have - Former U.S. military experience or defense civilian with acquisition, technical, or operational background. - Familiarity with US military Science and Technology programs. - Experience working with hardware-enabled platforms, visualization systems, simulation tools, or digital twin environments. - Experience supporting early-stage or deep-tech companies. - Experience working effectively in remote or geographically distributed teams.
