Job Description

Director of Information Technologies and Cybersecurity

Role Description Reporting to the President and Chief Innovation Officer, Executive Vice-President, the Director of Information Technologies and Cybersecurity provides strategic leadership for Microbac’s technology and security. The role holds responsibility to align IT with business goals, manage infrastructure (hardware, software, applications, networks, security), oversee budgets and vendors, lead IT teams (analysts, developers, support), create and maintain a robust cybersecurity program, and drive digital transformation and advancement through planning, implementation, and staff training, while staying ahead of technological advancements, regulatory requirements and best practices. You must be located in Virginia within the Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, or Virginia Beach area. The position is remote with travel when necessary. Essential Functions - IT Leadership & Strategy: - Develop and execute the organization’s IT strategy, roadmap, and governance framework. - Oversee all IT operations, infrastructure applications, networks, and end-user support. - Lead technology modernization initiatives, system upgrades, and digital transformation efforts. - Establish IT policies, standards, and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance. - Partner with executive leadership to align technology investments and initiatives with leadership and business priorities. - Cybersecurity & Risk Management: - Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity program. - Identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks across the organization. - Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards. - Oversee incident response planning, breach detection, investigation, and remediation. - Conduct regular security risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing. - Lead security awareness and training programs for employees. - Infrastructure & Systems Management: - Oversee cloud, on-premises, and hybrid IT environments. - Ensure system reliability, scalability, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity. - Manage identity and access management, network security, endpoint protection, and data security. - Elevate, select, and manage enterprise software, hardware, vendors, and options for integration to present to the Senior Executive Team. - Vendor & Budget Management: - Manage IT and cybersecurity budgets, forecasting, and cost optimization. - Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, service-level agreements, and third-party risk assessments. - Team Leadership & Development: - Lead, mentor, develop, and evaluate IT staff, ensuring teams have the capabilities to provide adequate support for applications and implementations, and the capacity to adjust to technology enhancements and organizational growth. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field. - Master’s degree is preferred. - 5-8 years of progressive IT leadership experience, including cybersecurity oversight. - Significant knowledge base of current AI and Cybersecurity developments and best practices and the willingness to engage in continuous education to stay up to date with the rapidly changing IT industry. - Demonstrated experience leading enterprise IT infrastructure and security programs. - Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
