• Perform analysis of chromosomes, which includes imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens • Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis • Summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature • Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care • Perform and evaluate troubleshooting, document all corrective actions as needed • Comply with company policies and procedures
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- 4 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- 1 year or more of experience in Oncology Cytogenetics (preferred)
- 1 year or more of experience in cytogenetic analysis (preferred)
- Certified by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG)
- ASCP Certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG)
- Experience with cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images
- Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
