Role Description We're seeking a Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale the core services powering our client's platform. You'll work across a modern, service-based architecture to deliver reliable, performant systems that power yield products for some of the largest names in DeFi and fintech. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with a strong sense of ownership, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and experienced in taking products from concept to production. You'll work 70–80% in code, contributing directly to system design, architecture, and implementation. - Design and build scalable backend systems powering API and internal services - Own projects end-to-end — from scoping and design to implementation, testing, and production delivery - Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to turn technical debt into modern, maintainable, and highly available systems - Write clean, well-tested code, and maintain strong CI/CD hygiene - Deploy, monitor, and scale services in production using modern cloud tooling (AWS, GCP, or similar) - Contribute to system design discussions covering performance, reliability, and data architecture - Participate in on-call rotations and incident response for production systems - Continuously identify and drive improvements in system reliability, observability, and performance Qualifications - 6+ years of professional backend engineering experience - Proven experience delivering production systems end-to-end (scoping design implementation production) - Strong programming skills in Python or another modern backend language (e.g., Go, Rust, Java, C++) - Solid understanding of REST APIs, relational databases (Postgres or MySQL), and service-based architectures - Experience with version control (Git), unit/integration testing, and CI/CD pipelines - Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) - Experience participating in an on-call rotation or owning production systems - Demonstrated ability to design scalable systems and refactor legacy components Benefits - Health Coverage - We offer medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees. • Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Python • Design and ship AI features using LLMs and modern ML techniques • Implement retrieval workflows (RAG, embeddings, vector search) • Take AI systems from prototype to production and iterate based on real usage • Work closely with other engineers and stakeholders to make good technical trade-offs • Help keep our systems clean, reliable, and easy to extend

• Design, install, configure, and maintain cloud-based database environments • Monitor database performance and proactively identify and address performance issues. • Ensure the security of the database environment, including access control and data encryption • Develop and implement backup and recovery procedures to ensure the integrity of the database • Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations • Provide technical support to end-users and troubleshoot issues with the database • Automate database maintenance and management tasks where possible • Create as built documentation for database service configurations and options • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in cloud-based database solutions • Maintain familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) and CI/CD pipeline with respect to cloud database offerings. • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to ensure the database architecture design meets performance and scalability requirements. • Supporting rigorous project governance and execution achieved through: • Meeting with team members daily to review progress. • Submitting time on assigned projects, daily. • Supporting project delivery team members by: • Always operating with transparency • Being responsive to requests from team members for information • Communicating working preferences and understanding the working preferences of others to help develop a high-performing team that operates with respect, effectiveness, and efficiency. • Specific Responsibilities of the DBE • Designing, implementing, and maintaining databases: The DBE is responsible for designing and implementing the organization's database system, and for ensuring that it is maintained and updated as needed. • Monitoring and optimizing database performance: The DBE must analyze the database system monitoring to ensure that it is performing optimally. This may include identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, optimizing compute and storage, and provide guidance on poorly performing queries. • Ensuring data security and integrity: The DBE must ensure that the organization's data is secure and that access to the database system is properly controlled. This may include implementing security policies and procedures, configuring user access, encryption at rest and in transit, and managing data backups and recovery. • Providing technical support and vendor escalation: The DBE must provide technical support to end-users of the database system, including troubleshooting issues and providing guidance on how to use the system effectively. The DBE will submit and respond to vendor support cases (AWS and other). • Collaborating with other teams: The DBE must work closely with other teams, such as development, cloud operations and infrastructure teams, to ensure that the database system is integrated with other systems and is optimized for performance.

• Help design, build, and maintain scalable, high-quality web applications. • Work across the entire stack, from modern frontend interfaces to robust backend services. • Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineering teams. • Design, build, and maintain backend services using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot. • Implement and evolve REST and gRPC APIs following best practices and versioning standards. • Ensure service reliability through unit/integration tests, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis. • Work with PostgreSQL (schema design, performance tuning) and integrate with caching layers (Redis). • Build and debug containerized services using Docker and deploy them on Kubernetes (GKE). • Apply security fundamentals: OAuth2/OIDC, JWT validation, RBAC, and secure coding practices. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring clear communication and ownership of deliverables. • Contribute to CI/CD workflows (Tekton/Jenkins, ArgoCD) and follow GitOps principles. • Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and mentor team members when needed.
