Role Description The Networking team within Airbnb’s Cloud Infrastructure org owns the entire Airbnb production network infrastructure. The group is responsible for designing, building and operating the software and solutions that connect all Airbnb users and services, such as: - Traffic proxy and load balancer - Service mesh - VPC/backbone and cross-region connectivity - Network monitoring and security systems As a member of the network infra team, you will be working with talented engineers on cutting edge technologies of cloud native network stack from Layer 3 - Layer 7. You will contribute to the key infrastructure components that connect all Airbnb users and services across the globe. You will have the chance to define and influence large infrastructure initiatives such as: - Global traffic load balancing and disaster recovery - Next-gen service mesh - Cross-region gateways and edge security Airbnb is a member of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) end user community, and we work closely with the open source community (e.g. k8s, istio) and peer companies to tackle cloud native engineering challenges at scale. You will also have the chance to make an impact on the industry and open source communities. • Build and improve AI-enabled product features from prototype to production. You’ll work within an end-to-end engineering team that owns build quality, release readiness, and ongoing improvements. • Build and maintain product features and supporting backend components, including services, integrations, and internal workflows. • Write production-ready code and lightweight prototypes to validate ideas quickly. • Create automated tests and proactively fix issues to keep releases stable, as engineers own quality without a dedicated QA function. • Support proof-of-concepts and experiments by setting up test cases, reviewing results, and improving areas where quality is weak. • Document systems and workflows so others can run, maintain, and extend what you build.

• Contribute directly to mainline Linux kernel development: schedulers, power management, device drivers and core subsystems • Support and optimise Linux for extremely popular consumer devices used by millions of people • Make Linux do things it can't currently do • Work with upstream maintainers and represent Collabora at conferences • Translate customer needs into technical solutions while advocating for upstream-first approaches • Balance technical excellence with real-world pressures: customer deadlines, hardware limitations, business priorities, while keeping code quality high • Explain complex kernel decisions to product teams, provide honest timelines and build trust through transparent communication
