Position Overview Bold Business is seeking a detail-oriented Freelance Bookkeeper to lead project-based cleanup and catch-up accounting for small business clients. This role is designed for a professional who can step in quickly, work independently, and bring order to disorganized or incomplete financial records. The immediate priority is managing projects involving 2-3 years of historical accounting records to help clients get their books current. While the initial workload is high, the role may transition into lighter, ongoing maintenance of approximately 3-4 hours per week. Technical & Primary Skills - Historical Reconstruction: Clean up and reconcile 2-3 years of historical bookkeeping and accounting records. - QuickBooks Mastery: Utilize strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks to resolve coding inconsistencies and manage financial data - Transaction Troubleshooting: Investigate unclear or incorrectly categorized transactions and assign them to the correct accounts. - Bank Reconciliation: Categorize and reconcile transactions directly from bank feeds and banking records. - Accounts Payable (AP): Review invoices, record payables, and match payments within QuickBooks. - Accounts Receivable (AR): Record invoices, track deposits, and apply payments accurately. - Workflow Proficiency: Apply a strong understanding of invoice matching, payment tagging, and reconciliation workflows - QuickBooks Optimization: Proactively identify opportunities to automate and streamline bookkeeping processes using built-in software features. - Consultative Insights: Share practical observations and recommendations to help clients build stable, long-term bookkeeping practices Required Qualifications - Minimum of 3-6+ years of proven bookkeeping experience, with a heavy emphasis on complex cleanup or catch-up projects. - Technical Mastery: Deep, hands-on expert-level experience with QuickBooks Online/Desktop. - Certifications: QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor Certification is required; NACPB or AIPB certification is highly preferred. - Tool Proficiency: Advanced experience with accounting ecosystem tools such as Dext (Receipt Bank), Hubdoc, or Bill.com for automated document fetching and AP management. - Adaptability: Comfortable working with incomplete records and researching historical data to determine proper categorization independently. - Communication: Strong written and verbal skills to deliver recommendations and insights in a fully remote environment. - With dedicated remote workspace, device and amenable to work US Hours.
