The Manager, Pricing & Product position is responsible for the profit and loss of Pie's Workers Compensation book of business. They have ownership over product design and pricing, regulatory compliance, and distribution along with a focus on quantitative analytics for measuring profitability. The role is responsible for measuring and monitoring how the business metrics are performing in a given timeframe and identifying trends - looking at mix of business changes, quote and conversion levels, claims frequency and severity results, as well as retention metrics. The Manager, Pricing & Product will also work closely with the Technology team to build and improve systems to ensure a great customer and agent experience, as well as allow for efficient and compliant operations. They will also lead a team of analysts and have full management responsibilities. How You’ll Do ItOversight of Product & Pricing: - Leverage rating bureau data, industry resources, and internal results to continuously improve Pie's pricing structure with the goal of achieving profitable growth. - Develop new tools that systematically diagnose conversion, retention, and profitability trends and quantify proposed pricing impacts at scale. - Collaborate with pricing analysts to analyze market competitiveness and identify markets for growth and exit opportunities. - Create new product features that streamline pricing changes and maximize pricing segmentation. - Manage the product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch, by defining product features, creating business requirements documents, and coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery. Product Development: - Partner with the Compliance and Legal teams to ensure that all filed and implemented rating plans meet state-specific requirements. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Underwriting, Business Development, Actuarial, Claims, and Marketing, to gather insights and develop product requirements that meet regulatory and customer needs as well as key company objectives. - Continuously assess customer feedback and market trends to identify opportunities for rating enhancements and innovations. Team Development: - Participate in the ongoing development and documentation of all pricing and appetite-related processes. - Support, mentor, and coach as well as provide professional development for direct reports; provide continuous feedback and opportunities for career development. - Identify hiring needs and be the hiring manager for recruiting high-quality analysts. - Work collaboratively with the People team throughout the team member lifecycle, including, but not limited to hiring, onboarding, performance management, team member relations, and offboarding. The Right StuffEducational Background: - Bachelor's Degree is required. - Background in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or other quantitative fields of study is preferred. Experience: - Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in the P&C commercial insurance industry, with a focus on Workers Compensation through either analytical work, underwriting, or commercial lines product management. - Minimum of 1 year experience managing direct reports on their analytical ability; a strong desire to mentor, coach, and develop analysts is required. Skills: - Advanced data management and manipulation skills in Excel, Looker, and Snowflake. - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify trends, solve complex problems, and overcome regulatory roadblocks. - Results-driven mindset with strong decision-making skills; comfortable with ambiguity, self-starter, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. - Effective organization and time management skills, capable of managing projects in ambiguous environments while meeting deadlines. - In-depth knowledge of commercial insurance regulatory compliance and various distribution channels (including direct to business lines and independent agents), process dynamics, and economic metrics. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across the organization and effectively present technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Role Description We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to head up our Product Development function. The Head of Product Development will be accountable for the strategic design, review, and management of TQUK’s qualifications, endorsed products, and learning resources, ensuring they support business growth, regulatory compliance, and sector innovation. This role is pivotal in driving stakeholder engagement and positioning TQUK at the forefront of vocational education reform.
