Railway Depot Facilities Specialist

Systra

Role Description SYSTRA Canada is looking for a Rolling Stock Maintenance Facilities Engineer, to act as technical lead for maintenance projects and for the design of rolling stock maintenance facilities and acquisition of maintenance equipment. Missions/Main Duties - Project responsibilities: - Conduct scoping, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies to define client needs. - Develop preliminary and detailed designs; prepare reports and validate designs. - Rolling Stock Maintenance and Maintenance Facilities: - Define maintenance strategies; size facilities and specify workshop equipment. - Perform functional design and coordinate with architecture, building, civil, and rail systems teams. - Procurement: - Prepare technical specifications and tender documents. - Support tendering, bid analysis, inspections, FAT/SAT, and commissioning. - Develop tools and data to improve delivery efficiency. - Project management: - Monitors progress, project schedule. - Supervises staff and provides technical guidance. - Ensures project expenditures are compliant with established budgets. - Follows up on the client invoicing progress and payments. - Preparation of proposals: - Prepare rolling stock maintenance related proposals and their pricing. Qualifications - An Engineering degree, preferably in mechanical, electrical, industrial or building engineering is an asset for this position. - Any additional degrees in other disciplines such as administration, business or management would be an asset. Requirements - Minimum of 10 years of experience in the functional design of Rolling Stock maintenance facilities and in the specification of maintenance equipment. - Overseas consulting experience in rolling stock maintenance projects is an asset. - Relevant experience may be considered as an equivalent. - Experience in the design of maintenance facility for high-speed trains or electrified railways is an asset. - Must be proficient at writing clear technical reports and proposals. - Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English. - Must have aptitudes for teamwork on multidisciplinary projects. - Must be able to work independently, sometimes under pressure to meet deadlines. - Must show leadership and grow the business. - Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally for short term assignments.
