Job Description

Battery Supply Sourcing

Next Mobility Labs

• We’re hiring a Business Developer to secure battery supply across multiple categories—new batteries from battery OEMs, used batteries, and surplus/oversupply stock (e.g., from automotive OEMs, Tier-1s, integrators). • You’ll work closely with our sales operations team, legal, and finance to ensure that sourced batteries are tradeable, bankable, and fit for customer requirements. • This role is commercially driven and relationship-heavy, combining sourcing/origination, market intelligence, and deal execution. • You’ll work closely with quality, logistics, legal, and sales teams to ensure that sourced batteries are bankable, traceable, and fit for customer requirements. • Build a sourcing strategy by category: new batteries, used and surplus (cells/modules/packs). • Identify and approach supply partners; map decision-makers across procurement, aftersales, engineering, and sustainability teams. • Create a qualified supply pipeline with clear attributes: chemistry, form factor, volumes, timing, location, documentation, and constraints. • Qualify supply streams for technical suitability and commercial viability (chemistry/form factor, configuration, condition & grading, compliance/documentation). • Coordinate with internal teams to define acceptance criteria and incoming inspection requirements.

Job Requirements

  • 3–8+ years in business development, sourcing, procurement, or origination within batteries, automotive, energy storage, electronics, recycling, or industrial supply chains.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and close B2B agreements with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial skills: pricing, risk assessment, contract terms, and relationship management.
  • Comfortable with battery fundamentals (chemistry, formats, degradation drivers) and fit-for-purpose thinking.
  • High process discipline (documentation, traceability, pipeline hygiene).
  • Bonus: Experience sourcing used EV batteries or industrial lithium-ion batteries at scale.
  • Familiarity with testing/grading approaches (SoH estimation, impedance/OCV checks, diagnostic data).
  • Understanding of dangerous goods logistics and cross-border movement constraints.
  • Existing network in automotive OEMs, Tier-1s, cell makers, recyclers, and battery service ecosystems.
  • Experience with ESG/sustainability stakeholders and circular economy programs.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus
  • Flexible working hours & hybrid remote model
  • Modern office in Mainz (optional) – open spaces, coffee bar, meeting pods
  • Low ‑ hierarchy, open ‑ feedback culture – your voice shapes strategy
  • English as the company language – work in an international, multicultural team
  • Professional development budget – conferences, certifications, language courses
  • Direct impact on the circular battery ecosystem – you will literally help close the loop on used EV batteries
