• Owning and leading a high-performing engineering team, with a strong focus on career development, wellbeing, and impact • Partnering with Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers to define and execute Canva’s longer-term observability strategy • Translating high-level goals into clear roadmaps, priorities, and delivery plans • Owning the reliability, availability, and performance of Canva’s critical observability platforms, including tracing and exception systems • Driving modernisation of the observability stack, including deeper OpenTelemetry adoption and platform improvements • Ensuring observability capabilities translate into intuitive, effective developer experiences across workflows, visualisations, and tooling
Job Requirements
- You’ve held a technical leadership role, including people leadership or team management experience
- You’ve built, operated, or supported large-scale distributed systems in cloud environments (AWS ideally)
- You have strong foundations in computer engineering and systems thinking
- You care deeply about reliability, scalability, and developer experience
- You communicate clearly and can align teams through thoughtful documentation and discussion
- Nice to have (but not essential): Experience with OpenTelemetry
- Experience working with observability tooling such as Grafana, Mimir, ClickHouse, or similar
- Experience coding in Go

• Build and mentor a multidisciplinary team of Electrical and I&C engineers, promoting a culture of nuclear safety, technical excellence, and project accountability • Oversee the evaluation of standard plant design against site-specific requirements, including any reconciliation of the design with customer needs and local site conditions • Lead the team in mapping standard designs to local codes and standards and ensure all I&C architecture meets local licensing requirements • Approve site-specific modifications to electrical systems, control logic, and human-machine interface (HMI) requirements • Act as the primary point of contact for new customers and local regulators regarding Electrical and I&C system design and compliance • Contribute to an engineering team that assures proposals and early works packages for selected sites are compatible with our standard product offering • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal engineering teams • Interface with external partners, customers, and other applicable country specific regulatory agencies as required on technical issues • Work with proposal and early works teams to build estimates, schedules, and identify risks associated with different opportunities • Provide guidance to external partner engineering resources to ensure the quality of deliverables • Support commercial and marketing opportunities to develop new business opportunities • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of GEVH • Support GEVH initiatives, corrective action, process improvement and simplification • Ensure adherence to GEVH’s standards for nuclear safety and compliance
