Role Description Peraton is seeking a skilled Network Engineer / Developer (Riverbed Solutions) to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in optimizing and enhancing network performance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Riverbed SteelHead, NetProfiler, and other WAN optimization solutions. You will have experience in network performance monitoring, application acceleration, and traffic analysis in large-scale enterprise environments. - Perform network performance analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization using NetIM, NetProfiler, and AppResponse. - Provide technical expertise in network traffic analysis, application performance monitoring (APM), and QoS. - Collaborate with network engineers, security teams, and system administrators to enhance CBP’s IT infrastructure. - Conduct root cause analysis of network performance issues and recommend solutions. - Implement configuration changes, upgrades, and patches for Riverbed appliances and software. - Develop technical documentation, reports, and performance metrics for CBP leadership. - Ensure compliance with federal security and IT policies. - Develop and implement automation scripts and tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Ansible) for network configuration, monitoring, and incident response. - Design, develop, and maintain custom applications or integrations to extend Riverbed capabilities and streamline network operations. - Utilize APIs to integrate Riverbed solutions with other IT systems, such as ticketing, monitoring, and orchestration platforms. - Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal software tools for network management, data analysis, and reporting. Qualifications - Bachelors degree and 12 years of experience or an Associates degree and 14 years of experience or a Masters degree and 10 years of experience or a High School diploma and 16 years of experience. - U.S. Citizenship (Required for CBP and government positions). - Must have the ability to obtain a CBP Public Trust clearance. - 3 – 5 years of experience in network engineering, WAN optimization, or Riverbed product support. - Hands-on experience with Riverbed SteelHead, NetProfiler, and AppResponse. - Strong understanding of TCP/IP, MPLS, QoS, WAN/LAN networking, and cloud environments. - Familiarity with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), network security principles, and firewalls. - Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, Splunk, or Cisco ThousandEyes). - Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and data manipulation. - Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git). - Understanding of API concepts (REST, SOAP) and experience with API consumption or integration. Requirements - Active CBP BI or Top Secret. - Riverbed Certified Solutions Associate (RCSA) or Riverbed Certified Solutions Professional (RCSP). - Experience with federal government IT environments, preferably DHS or CBP. - Familiarity with cloud-based networking (AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments). - Strong scripting or automation skills (Python, Ansible, PowerShell). - Experience with software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps). - Demonstrated experience in developing custom applications or integrations for network management or performance monitoring. - Knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) for data storage and retrieval related to network metrics. - Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for deploying network tools or services. - Contributions to open-source projects or a portfolio of personal development projects. • Design robust, high-performance networking fabrics for AI and HPC environments utilizing InfiniBand and high-speed Ethernet technologies • Lead front-end discovery initiatives and facilitate technical workshops to assess performance, scalability, and resiliency needs • Architect complex backend networks, including spine/leaf, Clos, and fabric-based topologies • Define and validate architectural designs in collaboration with vendors such as NVIDIA (Mellanox), Arista, Juniper, and Nokia • Partner with compute and storage architects to ensure end-to-end system performance • Prepare detailed design documentation, implementation guides, and comprehensive validation plans • Support proof-of-concepts (POCs), benchmarking, and performance testing for AI networking solutions • Serve as a technical escalation point during deployment and optimization phases • Complete ongoing security awareness training and comply with company policies to the requirements section • Identify and escalate security risks to the appropriate Executive Leadership Team member and actively contribute to remediation efforts • Other duties as assigned.

• Design and maintain scalable network architectures for edge, modular, and distributed data center environments. • Define standards for routing, switching, firewalling, segmentation, and redundancy. • Design and operate modern data center network fabrics. • Define overlay / underlay separation, IP addressing strategies, and multi-tenant segmentation models. • Design and support GPU and high-performance compute (HPC) network architectures. • Collaborate with compute and platform teams to align GPU topology and network fabric design. • Own network design documentation including HLDs, LLDs, diagrams, and IP plans. • Implement and support advanced L3 network services. • Lead complex troubleshooting involving control-plane instability and data-plane forwarding anomalies. • Diagnose and resolve network performance issues impacting GPU workloads. • Design and support hybrid connectivity models including ISP, LTE/5G, satellite, and private links. • Optimize network performance for latency-sensitive, bandwidth-constrained, and intermittently connected environments. • Design and enforce network segmentation across IT, OT, management, and customer-facing domains. • Implement and maintain firewall policies, VPNs, and secure remote access solutions. • Develop and maintain automation for network provisioning, validation, and configuration consistency.

• Develops plans, designs, resource requirements, and cost estimates for construction and support involving enterprise high availability multi-platform networks • Monitors systems operations and adjusts operational plans as needed • Serves as one of the company’s top network engineering expert resources • Assesses and resolves the most complex data network problems and incidents • Coordinates with multi-platform business and technical colleagues on various project implementations • Be on-call 24x7 to provide on-site or remote support at any time when called upon
