Design and Release Engineer, Body Side Outer (BSO), Roof Panel
Alten México
• Develop components and assemblies using CATIA / 3DX. • Lead Class A surface refinement ensuring styling alignment and manufacturability. • Apply GD&T and conduct dimensional variation/tolerance studies. • Ensure compliance with VOC, regulatory, packaging, clearance, DFA/DFS requirements. • Support CAE reviews and incorporate validation feedback. • Perform feasibility for stamping, tooling, and manufacturing processes. • Ensure high craftsmanship standards: gap & flush, fit & finish. • Prepare and manage DFMEA, DVPR, SCCAF, and technical documentation. • Collaborate with suppliers, purchasing, and plant teams. • Manage design data, BOM, and releases in PLM. • Support prototype builds, timing milestones, and RFQ activities.
Job Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in automotive design (preferably Body Structures / Exterior Panels)
- Advanced proficiency in CATIA / 3DX / 3DEXPERIENCE
- Experience with Class A surfacing and exterior body development
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and dimensional analysis
- Experience with stamping processes, tooling feasibility, and springback considerations
- Experience evaluating fit & finish (gap & flush)
- Familiarity with DFMEA, DVPR, and engineering release processes
- Experience working with suppliers and manufacturing teams
- English level B2–C1
- Valid visa for international travel (e.g., U.S.)
- Experience with 3DCS / CETOL or other tolerance tools
- Knowledge of body materials (AHSS, aluminum, boron steel)
- Understanding of CAE interpretation (NVH, stiffness, durability)
- Knowledge of APQP/PPAP processes
- Automation or knowledge-based engineering in CATIA (Power Copies, macros)
- Experience in craftsmanship/corrosion prevention/hem flange strategies.
- Strong problem-solving mindset
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration
- Attention to detail and high craftsmanship standards
- Ability to manage timing, priorities, and deliverables
