Role Description The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) will play a pivotal role in advancing the missions of Galvanize USA, a 501(c)(3) public charity, and Galvanize Action, a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization. This role is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors and prospects, while ensuring compliance with all relevant IRS regulations and donor reporting requirements. - Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects with the capacity to give five- to six-figure gifts annually. - Design and implement individualized strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, aligning interests with the missions of both Galvanize USA and Galvanize Action. - Provide high-level, personalized stewardship that deepens donor trust and commitment. - Partner with leadership and volunteers to identify and execute donor engagement opportunities and joint solicitations. - Engage major donors with credibility and strategic sophistication, grounded in a deep understanding of state and national political dynamics, leadership, and key decision-makers. - Collaborate with the Executive Director to strategically transfer key donor relationships, ensuring shared ownership and building organizational capacity for long-term sustainability. Qualifications - 5–7 years of experience in major gifts fundraising, with a proven track record of securing five- and six-figure gifts. - Demonstrated experience fundraising for both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations. - Demonstrated experience in political party fundraising and understanding of the national political fundraising landscape. - Strong understanding of donor compliance requirements, restricted/unrestricted giving, and acknowledgment processes. - Excellent relationship-building, communication, and storytelling skills. - Proficiency with donor databases (CRM) and standard fundraising tools. - CFRE preferred. - PAC fundraising preferred. - Ability to travel as needed (typically, 4-6 times/year). - Candidates must be authorized to work in the US.
