Job Description

Senior Database Migration Engineer

LMKR

• Analyze the existing SQL Anywhere database schema, objects, dependencies, and data structures. • Convert proprietary SQL Anywhere functions, stored procedures, triggers, and queries into ANSI-compliant and PostgreSQL-compatible SQL. • Redesign and optimize database schemas to align with PostgreSQL best practices. • Develop, execute, and validate data migration scripts for large production datasets. • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency throughout and after migration. • Perform post-migration validation, reconciliation, and performance benchmarking. • Optimize indexing strategies and improve query execution performance in PostgreSQL. • Collaborate closely with application developers to integrate the migrated database with the existing application stack. • Troubleshoot migration issues and provide long-term database optimization recommendations.

Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience working with relational database systems
  • Strong hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL (or SQL Server with proven migration experience)
  • Advanced SQL skills, including stored procedures, triggers, constraints, and indexing
  • Strong understanding of query optimization, performance tuning, and execution plans
  • Experience working with large schemas and enterprise-scale production databases
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex database and data consistency issues
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Relevant database certifications (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.) will be a plus.
