Lead Transmission Line Engineer
NV5
• Act as the responsible engineer and client point of contact for power delivery projects. • Increase the volume of overhead line work with existing clients. • Assist in marketing, promotion and business development efforts to add new regional clients. • Prepare, review, and P.E. seal technical calculation reports and construction documents meeting client and NV5 requirements. • Assist in the routing and design of overhead transmission lines using industry-standard tools. • Support the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, bill of materials and technical documentation. • Participate in field visits to collect data and support construction activities. • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success. • Contribute to project planning, cost estimation and proposal preparation. • Maintain organized records of project decisions and communications. • Structure analysis and foundation design. • Developing design criteria and specifications. • Develop your career via peer-learning through sharing knowledge with other experienced engineers and train and mentor junior staff. • Manage multiple projects and provide engineering QA/QC. • Travel to client sites as needed. • Mentor junior staff.
Job Requirements
- B.S. degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 8+ of progressive experience in the civil-structural engineering field along with QA/QC is desired.
- Expertise with Power Line Systems software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE), MFAD and L-Pile is required.
- Experience with PLS-TOWER is a plus.
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) registration.

As a Senior Transmission Line Engineer, you will lead and oversee transmission line project designs, serving as a subject matter expert in transmission line engineering. You will navigate the complexities of electrical transmission line design while leading project discussions with clients and internal teams. Requirements - Experience with RISA-3D and/or STAAD for structural analysis and design is preferred. - Functional understanding of AISC, ACI 318, ASCE 7, ASCE 10, ASCE 48, EIA-TIA 222, CSA, and GO95 is preferred. - Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
