Role Description Hi! I’m Ryan, the Head of Marketing at Modash. I’m looking for a software engineer to join our marketing team. Here's a little background, examples of the things that you might work on, and things you probably want to know. Having an engineer in the marketing team has been part of our secret sauce for the past 2-3 years. The role isn’t new, but our current engineer (Silver Taza) is moving onto new pastures soon. We're looking for someone to fill his (rather large) shoes. 90% of your time will be spent in the Discoverability team, working with Usman. For context, our marketing team is split into three (Brand, Product Marketing, Discoverability). “Discoverability” includes all the initiatives that help Modash get found when people search for stuff. Mostly SEO & LLM visibility. - Programmatic projects: - /find-influencers/ → lists of influencers in particular cities, countries, niches, or combinations. - /content-library/ → a variety of different list/example pages. - Free “mini tools”: - Fake follower checker - Engagement rate calculator - Free influencer search tool - Automatic AI content translations Outside of those projects, the remaining 10% of your time will be spent as needed in other areas of marketing. - Implementing a system that checks user location via IP, in order to display the correct currency on our website pricing page. - Building an AI qualification tool that checks & categorizes the user's company (using email domain) before allowing them to book time with our sales team. The stack is Vite + Vue, deployed to S3 via AWS. From Silver’s perspective, these are some of the technical challenges that you’ll need to solve: - Build and deployment speed at scale. - Infrastructure breadth. - Memory constraints. A Typical Day: - As Technical Lead, you will drive the technical vision and execution for our KV stores and caching infrastructure. You will mentor engineers, shape architectural decisions, and ensure the team delivers high-impact solutions. Examples of the types of challenges you will lead include: - Defining the multi-year technical roadmap for caching and KV infrastructure at Airbnb - Evolving our KV store from derived-data workloads to support system-of-record use cases, expanding the platform's capabilities and customer base - Building a multi-tenant caching solution for Airbnb - Guiding the rearchitecture of our KV write path to remove infrastructure complexity while improving replication lag - Overseeing frameworks for high-traffic, zero-downtime migrations between critical data platforms Your Expertise: - 9+ years of relevant industry experience - Proven track record of leading and mentoring engineering teams, setting technical direction, and growing engineers in their careers. - Deep expertise in distributed systems, multi-tenant storage, and infrastructure. You've architected and scaled high-performance, business-critical systems. - Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across teams and organizations, building alignment on technical strategy. - Strong judgment on technical trade-offs and ability to drive decisions that balance short-term delivery with long-term maintainability. - Experience onboarding to and navigating a broad and complex codebase, and enabling others to do the same.
