We need an English-fluent Mid-level Software Engineer, based in Latin America, available to work remotely. You’ll help evolve a legacy web-based SaaS product while contributing to a next-generation platform using modern tools and infrastructure. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating legacy codebases and building clean, scalable systems from scratch. Are you the one we are looking for? Responsibilities: - Contribute to both the legacy PHP/LAMP platform and the modern microservice-based platform. - Stabilize, refactor, and incrementally enhance older codebases with clear documentation. - Develop new backend and frontend functionality using NestJS and NextJS. - Participate in AWS migration efforts and support infrastructure modernization. - Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers across feature prioritization, implementation, and QA. Tech Stack: - Legacy: PHP 7, MySQL 5.7, LAMP stack, Vue, React - Modern: NestJS (Node.js backend), NextJS (React frontend), PostgreSQL - Infrastructure: AWS (SQS/SNS, ECS, Fargate), cloud-native and event-driven architecture Requirements: - 4+ years of experience in software engineering, including PHP/LAMP and/or Node.js stacks. - Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL). - Experience maintaining and modernizing legacy systems in production environments. - Familiarity with cloud-native development and microservices. - Strong English communication skills and comfort working asynchronously. It's a Plus: - Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation). - Familiarity with event-driven and service-oriented systems. - Previous work with nonprofit or mission-driven platforms.
