• Analyze product usage, customer feedback, and market signals to identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities for billing innovation. • Develop a deep understanding of customer personas and workflows, ensuring billing features address real business problems. • Partner with Product leadership to define, prioritize, and maintain the billing roadmap, translating insights into actionable initiatives with clear success metrics. • Collaborate with UX and Engineering to make complex financial workflows intuitive while ensuring the billing engine remains scalable and high-performing. • Write clear, outcome-focused product requirements and work with engineering to deliver functionality that increases the value customers gain from the platform. • Serve as Product Owner for an engineering squad, maintaining a steady flow of well-defined stories for each sprint. • Partner with QA and Engineering to ensure complex billing logic, particularly credits and adjustments, is fully accurate and aligned with business rules. • Oversee product readiness and go-to-market execution, including documentation, field enablement, and marketing coordination for successful launches. • Validate and demonstrate new functionality, ensuring releases meet product intent and customer expectations. • Represent BillingPlatform’s billing capabilities in executive demos, customer briefings, and strategic engagements. • Conduct competitive analysis and market intelligence related to billing functionality.
Job Requirements
- Rating & Pricing Engine Expertise – 3–5+ years of Product Management experience with usage-based rating or mediation.
- Strong understanding of transforming raw event data into billable charges, including tiered pricing, tapering, volume discounts, and attribute-based rating.
- Billing & Transaction Integrity – Deep familiarity with billing and invoicing processes, managing the lifecycle of a charge from rating to credits, adjustments, and debits while ensuring invoices remain accurate and auditable.
- Data-to-Invoice Complexity – Experience with proration, minimum commitments, true-ups, and handling credit interactions and late-arriving usage data ("as-of" vs. "at" date logic).
- Agile Product Ownership – Experienced Product Owner capable of managing backlogs, refining requirements, and leading agile product development through the SDLC.
- Technical Writing & Logic Definition – Strong ability to write user stories and acceptance criteria that define calculation logic, including rounding rules, currency precision, and sequencing of operations.
- Communication & Presentation – Excellent written and verbal English with the ability to clearly explain complex pricing logic to both technical and business audiences.
- Bias for Action – Results-driven and self-starting, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver initiatives in fast-moving environments.
- Pragmatic Decision Making – Understands trade-offs between value, scope, and time-to-market and helps teams choose the right level of automation versus iterative delivery.
- Systems Thinking – Considers the full product ecosystem and how changes impact invoices, portals, payments, and other systems.
- Proactive Discovery – Engages with users to ensure solutions address real enterprise billing needs.
- Hands-On Technical Approach – Comfortable working with SQL for data analysis, API tools like Postman, and understanding data flows within multi-tenant SaaS architectures.
