About the Role We are looking for an Azure Technical Architect to join a high-impact data transformation initiative built on Azure. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, governance, and platform reliability, focusing on improving the quality, trust, and usability of data across the organization. You will work closely with both business and technical stakeholders to assess and enhance data quality within an Azure Data Lake environment, optimize end-to-end data pipelines, and contribute to the evolution of scalable data models. A key part of the role involves establishing strong data governance foundations, including cataloging, lineage, privacy, and security, leveraging tools such as Microsoft Purview. Beyond technical execution, you will play an active role in ensuring smooth delivery by collaborating with distributed teams, contributing to CI/CD and automation practices, and maintaining high standards across SDLC processes, documentation, and stakeholder communication. Location: REMOTE Contract: Long-term contract (no benefits, medical, PTO...) Responsibilities - Assess the quality of consolidated and standardized data stored in the Azure Data Lake, recommend improvements, and implement data quality strategies. - Collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders to define data quality requirements and implement corrective solutions. - Optimize end‑to‑end data flow and data pipelines, covering extraction, transformation, data quality, and performance improvements. - Work in partnership with the client’s data and IT teams to refine and enhance data models. - Implement foundational Data Governance capabilities, including cataloging, lineage, privacy, and security using Microsoft Purview. - Develop automation and CI/CD pipelines to ensure consistent, scalable, and reliable operation of data and analytics platforms. - Work closely with the project team and offshore project manager. - Attend daily stand‑up calls and provide daily status reporting to the client. - Attend fortnightly governance calls with the client. - Follow SDLC processes and maintain all required project documentation.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in designing and delivering Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Database / Data Warehouse).
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, and related cloud‑native components.
  • Experience building and optimizing end‑to‑end data pipelines for large, complex datasets using on‑premises and/or cloud‑based platforms.
  • Solid experience in data modelling, data management, and data warehousing environments.
  • Proficiency in data profiling, data quality assessment, data cleansing, and data transformation techniques.
  • Practical experience implementing Data Governance capabilities (data cataloging, lineage, privacy, and security), preferably using Microsoft Purview.
  • Hands‑on experience developing BI solutions and dashboards using Power BI.
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and ALM tools such as Azure DevOps.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
