Job Description

Technical Delivery Lead

Boosted

What We’re Looking For We are seeking a Technical Delivery Lead who operates as an accountable technical owner at the intersection of architecture, delivery, and client outcomes. At Boosted, Technical Delivery Leads define system direction, translate ambiguous client problems into clear technical approaches, and ensure solutions are delivered in a way that is production-grade, scalable, and aligned to real business impact. In this role, you will own the technical success of one or more projects or workstreams, guiding architecture, implementation, and technical decision-making from early discovery through production delivery. You will partner closely with client stakeholders, engineers, product partners, and delivery leads to make pragmatic tradeoffs, surface risks early, and ensure the team has the clarity needed to execute. Through your technical expertise and judgment, you will build trusting relationships with key technical and non-technical client stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings strong system design judgment, business sense, and a bias toward ownership. You are comfortable operating in ambiguity, making architectural decisions under real-world constraints. You will be accountable not just for technical correctness, but for the solution’s success in meeting the business objectives of the client. Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Direction - Set and evolve the technical direction and architecture for projects and domains. - Break down ambiguous product requirements into clear technical approaches and execution plans. - Identify key risks and blind spots early, providing technical “early unlocks” for the team. - Make pragmatic trade-offs between speed, quality, and scope, and clearly communicate those decisions. - Lead by example through hands-on contribution to critical or complex parts of the system. Ownership & Delivery - Own the end-to-end technical delivery of project areas, from design through production and ongoing maintenance. - Ensure systems are robust, maintable, secure, performant, and accessible (including load testing, security considerations, monitoring, and remediation). - Proactively identify technical debt and guide the team toward sustainable solutions. - Maintain accountability for outcomes, not just implementation. - Ensure the team has clarity on the solution, component ownership, and technical expectations required for successful execution. - Prepare training materials for solutions you build, both for technical and non-technical audiences. Scalable Systems & Impact - Design and implement scalable, resilient, and maintainable full-stack systems. - Advocate for sound technical solutions, build consensus with stakeholders, and rally engineers behind a shared approach. - Create and share architectural decisions, patterns, and domain knowledge that scale beyond a single project. - Look beyond the immediate task to consider long-term system health and team efficiency. - Contribute reusable learnings, playbooks, patterns, and technical guidance so teams do not repeat the same mistakes twice. Quality & Engineering Craftsmanship - Champion high standards of craftsmanship, code quality, and system design. - Help teams adopt improved tools, workflows, and technical practices that increase productivity, quality, or delivery speed. - Establish and reinforce best practices around testing, reviews, documentation, and observability. - Simplify code and infrastructure where possible, prioritizing long-term maintenance and migration costs. - Drive consistency and reuse to improve developer velocity and avoid reinvention. Mentorship, Collaboration & Communication - Mentor and support engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and day-to-day technical guidance. - Enable others to take ownership by providing clarity, context, and feedback. - Communicate technical designs and decisions clearly through documentation, diagrams, and proofs of concept. - Partner effectively with product teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating between business needs and technical solutions. - Build credibility with client stakeholders and operate as a trusted partner in shaping technical direction. Your Qualifications Minimum requirements for success in this role: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - 7+ years of professional software development experience, including significant ownership of production systems. - Experience acting as a technical lead, staff-level engineer, or informal team lead on complex projects. - Advanced proficiency in English, both verbal and written. - Strong proficiency in at least one of: TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Go, C#, or Rust. - Deep understanding of system design, data modeling, distributed systems, and API design (REST and/or GraphQL). - Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Familiarity with microservices, containerization (Docker), and enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines. Your candidacy is enhanced by: - Prior work experience leading technical work in complex or regulated domains such as fintech, healthcare, insurance, or government. - Prior work experience in consulting or product management. - Prior work experience in sales engineering or pre-sales at a tech company. - Experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform). - A track record of raising engineering standards and improving team effectiveness. - Strong intuition for creating both elegant user experiences and scalable, yet simple systems - Experience working across multiple stakeholder groups such as engineering, data, infrastructure, security, and AI/ML. This role probably isn’t for you if: - You prefer clearly defined tasks without ownership over technical direction or outcomes. - You would be uncomfortable creating and delivering presentations for senior-level, non-technical client leadership. - You avoid making decisions under uncertainty. - You struggle to communicate technical ideas clearly in writing or to non-technical audiences. Benefits - Flexible hours: We are a fully remote company. Work on your schedule–pick up the kids, go to the dentist–you decide when you work. - Compensation: We offer a competitive salary and health benefits package, including a Wellness spending account. - Continuous learning: Access a dedicated learning budget to deepen your expertise. Complete certification programs in GCP, AWS, and other technologies. - Time off: It’s no secret we all have lives outside of work. Jet off to your favourite spot or just relax with flexible paid vacation days and sick days. - Annual team retreat: Once a year, we meet in person to collaborate, reconnect, and reset. Interview Process - Initial interviews will be conducted via a secure video platform that detects the use of AI filters or synthetic video/audio tools. - Final interviews will be conducted in person in Canada. We believe this process helps us create a fair, authentic, and high-signal experience for both candidates and interviewers. We look forward to reviewing your application and learning more about how you could contribute to Boosted’s success.
