THE OPPORTUNITY We are hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to our Payments Out team in Brazil! This is a Remote - Brazil position, meaning you can work anywhere within the country. Please note that this role is only open to candidates in Brazil. Responsible for the platform that serves the entire Wellhub business, processing millions of transactions for users and companies around the globe. We work closely with cross-functional teams and payment service providers to deliver optimal checkout conversion rates and efficient account management. We are creating a new architecture and set of systems to ensure consistency across multiple areas and services. YOUR IMPACT - Participate in the development of some of the most critical and challenging services in our ecosystem, seeking to build long-term and sustainable solutions; - Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve services focusing on performance, scalability, and resilience; - Expand our ecosystem's capabilities by architecting seamless integrations with 3rd-party partners, directly influencing our market reach; - Work in a collaborative and agile environment that prioritizes people over process; - Work with cutting-edge technologies and edge cases at scale; - Address intricate distributed systems challenges for a platform managing approximately 5 million concurrent requests, maintaining 99.9% availability during feature deployment. - Live the mission: inspire and empower others by genuinely caring for your own wellbeing and your colleagues. WHO YOU ARE - Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience; - Experience with microservices and high-volume distributed systems; - Experience with SQL technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server or any other relational database; - Focus on making things right and better at every opportunity; - Solid experience with RESTful APIs written in - Java/Kotlin + Spring (main stack) - Asynchronous processing and data pipelines - Software Architecture knowledge - Event-driven architectures - Serverless - Software quality and test automation mindset; - Cloud computing (AWS) and Cloud Native (K8s) experience; - Good communication skills and English proficiency. • Design, build, and evolve database-centric components within Tonic’s structural data platform • Make pragmatic architectural decisions that balance durability, performance, and maintainability • Develop and maintain database connectors for the Structural platform • Improve performance and maintainability of the product • Troubleshoot complex production issues across multiple database technologies • Investigate edge cases and system behaviors that require both patience and precision • Author thoughtful technical designs and documentation • Partner with Product to translate requirements into scalable solutions • Work closely with Support and Solutions Architects to deeply understand issues before implementing fixes • Raise the bar through code quality, technical judgment, and strong engineering habits • Bring informed perspectives on modern tooling, including AI-assisted development
