Senior Project Scheduler – VA EHRM
General Dynamics Information Technology
• Develop, maintain, and analyze highly complex Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and Integrated Master Plans (IMP) for large IT programs • Apply Critical Path Methodology (CPM) to identify dependencies, calculate float, and expose schedule bottlenecks • Establish, manage, and maintain schedule baselines; conduct detailed variance analysis against the baseline • Identify schedule-related risks and incorporate contingencies and mitigation strategies • Produce accurate schedule forecasts, performance metrics, and executive-level status reports with clear insights and impacts • Demonstrate advanced expertise in Microsoft Project, including Professional and Project Online/Server • Develop complex custom fields, formulas, graphical indicators, filters, groups, and outline codes • Manage multi-project environments, including linking multiple schedules and maintaining master project structures • Build sophisticated custom reports, dashboards, and visualizations within MSP or via integration with Excel, PowerPoint, or Power BI • Troubleshoot MSP performance problems, data integrity issues, and file corruption • Implement MSP best practices for schedule structure, logic, and maintenance • Export/import MSP data and build macros or scripts (e.g., VBA) to automate processes or integrate with external systems (e.g., Excel, SharePoint, Jira, Azure DevOps) • Apply deep understanding of IT project methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, Hybrid) to build accurate and aligned schedules • Translate complex technical requirements and software development processes into detailed schedule activities • Develop schedules for system integration efforts, including data migration, API development, testing cycles (SIT, UAT), and deployment • Support scheduling for infrastructure rollouts, software releases, and patching cycles • Map intricate dependencies across technical teams, system components, and external system interactions • Conduct detailed "what-if" analyses to evaluate alternative paths, assess impacts, and recommend recoveries or optimizations • Identify schedule deviations and propose creative, data-driven solutions to maintain project momentum • Identify opportunities to improve scheduling processes, tools, and methodologies • Deliver clear, concise communications on schedule status, risks, and impacts to technical teams, PMs, and executive leadership • Facilitate schedule reviews, negotiate duration and dependency inputs, and build stakeholder consensus • Work collaboratively across PMO, engineering, development, and operations teams
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of progressive experience in Project Scheduling and/or a master scheduler using Microsoft Project
- 3+ years of direct project experience working in system integrated delivery management environment using the Server version of Microsoft Project Scheduler
- Experience building, managing, and analyzing complex IT program schedules
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder-engagement skills
- Must be able to obtain a Position of Trust and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
