Payroll & Benefits Coordinator

Circle

• Support end-to-end payroll processing across multiple states and countries using Remote • Review and validate timekeeping data, including hours worked and PTO, ensuring accuracy before payroll runs • Process payroll changes including new hires, compensation updates, terminations, bonuses, and adjustments • Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, 401(k), etc.), including enrollments and life event changes • Manage contractor lifecycle operations, including agreements (SOWs), onboarding, and invoice schedules • Coordinate offboarding processes, including system updates, benefits terminations, and cross-functional alignment • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to payroll and benefits, and support internal documentation and process improvements

Job Requirements

  • Strong alignment with our values, find our values on our career page if you haven’t read up on them yet
  • 4+ years of experience in payroll, benefits, or a related function, ideally in a high-growth or distributed company
  • Strong understanding of payroll fundamentals, including taxes, deductions, and compliance basics
  • Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS tools (Remote.com experience is a plus), including exposure to international payroll
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills (e.g., lookups) and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (CEFR C2 or equivalent), as most collaboration at Circle happens asynchronously.
