Project Associate (Japanese Speaker)

As a Part-Time Project Associate, you will support the Delivery Team at Chemin, working closely with our Project Delivery Executives to ensure the successful execution of Japanese-language AI data annotation projects. In this role, you will be responsible for operational delivery and quality oversight, acting as the main point of contact for Japanese-speaking annotators. As the internal team does not speak Japanese, this role is critical in ensuring that annotations meet quality standards before submission to clients. You will report to the Project Delivery Executive and play a hands-on role in managing people, processes, and quality across ongoing projects that support AI advancements across multiple industries. Responsibilities Your primary focus will be supporting operations within the Project Delivery function, including: - Providing day-to-day operational support to ensure Japanese-language projects are delivered on time and to a high standard - Assisting with project setup, planning, and guideline development - Managing and supporting a remote team of Japanese-speaking annotators - Acting as the language quality gatekeeper for Japanese annotations, ensuring submissions meet required accuracy and quality thresholds (target: 95%) - Guiding annotators through questions and challenges via internal communication platforms - Performing detailed quality checks to catch language, formatting, and annotation errors before client submission - Handling project administration tasks in line with internal and client standards - Communicating clearly with internal stakeholders on project progress, risks, and quality issues Work Arrangements - Fully remote or hybrid (option to work from our Damansara Heights office - Kuala Lumpur, on Mondays and Fridays) - Minimum contract period: 3 months (renewable based on performance) - Immediate availability required (target start: April 2026 onwards)

Job Requirements

  • Fluent in Japanese (Native or N2 required)
  • Strong proficiency in written and spoken English
  • 0–2 years of experience in project management, operations, or people management in any capacity
  • Prior experience managing tasks, timelines, or contributors (work, internship, freelance, or extracurricular)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify language and annotation errors
  • Fast learner, self-driven, and comfortable working in fast-paced project environments
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially when guiding remote contributors
  • Technically competent in Google Workspace, particularly spreadsheets
