Climate Solutions Manager

Practice Greenhealth

• The Manager of Climate Solutions is responsible for managing projects and activities related to the organization’s work on emissions reduction for the health care sector and broader climate-smart health care solutions as part of the program’s climate solutions strategy. • The Manager will work closely with their team and Practice Greenhealth staff to develop tools, resources, and engagement opportunities related to energy and water efficiency, decarbonization, and facility resilience. • Promote and support health care organizations in setting and meeting climate commitments. • Cultivate relationships with commitment signatories and Practice Greenhealth partners, mobilizing them and providing them with technical guidance on building climate mitigation into their operations and tracking and reporting their progress on emissions reduction and efficiency actions. • Create, update, and refine the organization’s tools and resources to support successful climate solutions within health care organizations.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Education: BA or BS in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, facilities management, sustainable business).
  • Combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education.
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years in environmental sustainability in or related to a health care setting.
  • Combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum experience.
  • Minimum Field of Expertise: Subject matter knowledge in several areas of climate-smart health care: Greenhouse gas emissions tracking and reporting, Current health care interventions and strategies for decarbonization and water waste reduction, Leading national and international green building and emissions reduction standards, including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the Science Based Targets initiative.
  • Preferred Education: Relevant graduate study and/or certifications.
  • Combined experience/education as a substitute considered.
  • Preferred Experience: 4+ years, Experience working in a matrix organization or with multiple teams, Experience working in a virtual organization, Familiarity with nonprofit advocacy and/or membership-based organizations, Working with or within health care organizations.
