Commercial Counsel

Commercial Counsel - Blockchain Infrastructure Location:  Must be in the European Union (remote-first, office optional). France/ Paris or as close as possible, is always preferred. Remote | Full-time Compensation: $80K - $140K Our client is an elite team of leaders and experts in blockchain technology, cryptography, infrastructure, and security. They are currently developing the foundational wallet infrastructure for the next financial era. The organization is seeking a Commercial Counsel to own and drive all contract-related legal matters. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will work closely with Sales, Product, and Operations to support international growth. This is a hands-on role requiring a practitioner who can draft, review, and negotiate contracts and NDAs with clients, partners, and vendors. The successful candidate will build scalable templates and processes while ensuring compliance within the evolving fintech and blockchain regulatory landscape. The primary goal is to accelerate deal closures while protecting the company’s interests and balancing legal risk with business objectives. Key Responsibilities - Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including NDAs, MSAs, DPAs, and partner/vendor contracts. - Business Support: Partner with sales and product teams to facilitate deal flow and support sustainable business growth. - Vendor Onboarding: Oversee legal aspects of the vendor onboarding process, including conducting Know Your Business (KYB) assessments. - Process Optimization: Develop and maintain legal playbooks, templates, and scalable contract processes to improve efficiency. - Strategic Advisory: Advise internal stakeholders on contract risks, legal obligations, and general compliance. - Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all commercial activities align with data protection, financial services, and cryptocurrency regulatory frameworks. - External Liaison: Collaborate with external counsel when necessary and manage those workflows efficiently. Interview Process - Initial Screening: Introductory call with the Co-CEO (30 minutes). - Assessment Phase: Behavioural, personality, and cognitive testing (45 minutes). - Panel Interview: Comprehensive focus interview with a full panel (120 minutes) covering commercial law, work ethics, and culture fit. - Final Review: Concluding interview with the management team (30 minutes).

Job Requirements

  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in commercial or contracts law, with a strong preference for in-house experience.
  • Legal Qualifications: Must be admitted to practice law in France. Admission to practice in other EU jurisdictions and/or the US is considered a significant advantage.
  • Technical Expertise: A proven track record of drafting and negotiating complex B2B commercial agreements.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Mindset: A pragmatic approach with the ability to balance speed, risk, and commercial priorities.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with financial services and technology companies is preferred.
  • Languages: Full professional fluency in English is required; proficiency in French or other languages is a plus.
