Commercial Construction Superintendent / General Superintendent Compensation: $135,000 (annualized) | Travel & Per Diem Covered - Per diem/lodging: $275/day, 7 days a week, 49 weeks per year (3 weeks PTO) — est. $94,325 annually - Company will pay to fly you home every 3 weeks - Company vehicle Location: REMOTE based out of Charlotte, NC with extensive Travel Required Reports To: President of Construction Work Schedule & Travel This is a traveling role. The superintendent is expected to be on-site for the duration of project assignments. Sites may operate five or seven days per week depending on project requirements. About the Role We’re hiring an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to join our team. This is an opportunity for a road warrior who thrives in dynamic environments, takes pride in delivering high-quality work, and knows how to run a job from day one — managing site activities, coordinating subcontractors, controlling quality, and keeping the schedule moving. This role is ideal for an experienced superintendent who’s ready to step into a high‑accountability position and demonstrate their capabilities as a full‑time member of the Modern Construction Services team. Key Responsibilities Site Management & Construction Oversight • Manage all daily construction activities on-site, ensuring work is executed in compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and project documents • Coordinate subcontractors and trade partners at the site level, including orientation, scheduling, and performance oversight • Maintain a safe and compliant job site — conduct subcontractor safety orientations and enforce all safety protocols • Ensure quality control and verify that all installations meet the required standards before acceptance Scheduling & Deliverables • Develop and maintain the three-week look-ahead schedule • Manage the overall construction schedule to ensure on-time project completion • Coordinate deliveries, inspections, and milestones to keep the project on track Project Closeout • Manage punch list processes and coordinate trade partners through final inspections and project closeout • Ensure all documentation, certifications, and turnover items are completed and organized Communication & Reporting • Report directly to the General Superintendent; maintain consistent communication with the assigned Project Manager • Log daily progress and document site conditions, RFIs, and any issues affecting schedule or cost • Represent Modern Construction Services professionally with clients, architects, and inspectors on-site
Job Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a construction superintendent /general superintendent commercial construction
- Demonstrated ability to independently run a commercial construction project from start to finish
- Strong knowledge of construction safety standards and subcontractor management
- Proficiency with Procore and Microsoft Project
- OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR, AED certifications
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability and willingness to travel — this is a traveling role with extended stays at project sites
- Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field (equivalent field experience is equally valued)
- Familiarity with Bolt and/or Avetta software
- Experience working on commercial projects across multiple markets and geographies
- Physical Demands
- This role requires operating in a combined construction and office environment utilizing standard office equipment (computers, printers, copiers, filing cabinets) and the ability to walk the construction site, climb and carrying up to 25lbs of supplies and equipment.
