Job Summary The Performance‑Based Logistics (PBL) SME provides expert guidance, analysis, and oversight for logistics sustainment strategies across DoD programs. This role leads the development, evaluation, and optimization of PBL models, ensuring alignment with readiness objectives, cost‑wise performance, and contractual requirements. The PBL SME partners closely with government stakeholders, program leadership, and cross‑functional teams to deliver data‑driven logistics insights, performance metrics, sustainment strategies, and actionable recommendations that drive long‑term system availability. This is a senior‑level, remote position requiring a deep understanding of PBL policy, sustainment planning, life‑cycle product support, and performance‑based acquisition. Key Responsibilities - Develop, assess, and refine Performance‑Based Logistics strategies, performance metrics, and sustainment approaches in alignment with DoD product support policies. - Provide expert guidance on life‑cycle logistics, performance objectives, cost drivers, and system sustainment elements. - Analyze contractor performance against PBL metrics, KPIs, availability, and cost‑per‑unit‑usage data. - Support the creation and review of PBL‑related documentation, including Performance Work Statements (PWS), Product Support Strategies (PSS), and Integrated Product Support (IPS) elements. - Conduct risk assessments and recommend strategies to improve readiness, reduce total ownership cost, and enhance sustainment effectiveness. - Coordinate with program managers, engineers, logisticians, and financial analysts to ensure alignment across acquisition and sustainment activities. - Develop briefing materials and present sustainment recommendations to government leadership and stakeholders. - Provide subject matter expertise during contract planning, source selection, and ongoing contractor performance evaluations. - Maintain awareness of policy changes, best practices, and emerging logistics affecting PBL strategies and execution. - Travel Required. Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field. - Minimum of 7 years of experience in DoD logistics, product support, or sustainment, with at least 3 years specifically in PBL strategy or execution. - Demonstrated expertise in DoD life‑cycle logistics, product support planning, and performance‑based acquisition. - Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating readiness metrics, sustainment performance, and cost data. - Proven ability to develop and brief detailed logistics analyses and recommendations to senior leadership. - Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple priorities. - Active Secret security clearance. Desired Qualifications - DAWIA/DAU Life‑Cycle Logistics Level II/III (or equivalent). - Experience supporting major defense acquisition programs (MDAPs) or weapon system sustainment. - Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
