Senior Data Engineer

CourtAvenue

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows in Snowflake to support CDP and customer data initiatives. • Integrate and ingest data from multiple systems (CRM, digital analytics, marketing platforms, APIs, flat files, etc.) into Snowflake. • Develop and optimize SQL queries, views, and materialized datasets to support analytics, segmentation, and activation. • Collaborate with data strategy and MarTech teams to translate business requirements into technical data models and pipelines. • Support data standardization and transformation logic for customer profiles, identities, and behavioral data. • Implement and maintain data validation and quality checks within pipelines to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across ingestion and transformation processes. • Document workflows, schemas, and logic to maintain transparency and support scalability. • Manage and optimize Snowflake environments for performance, cost efficiency, and reliability.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, with a focus on cloud based data warehousing.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Snowflake, including SQL development, data modeling, and performance optimization.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Fivetran, Hevo, Airbyte, or similar.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills for data processing, automation, and integration tasks.
  • Familiarity with modern data architecture principles (ELT, schema design, data vault/star schema).
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on optimizing data flows and improving system efficiency.
  • Experience integrating marketing, customer, or behavioral data (CRM, web events, CDP-related pipelines) a strong plus.
  • Solid understanding of cloud ecosystems (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.

Role Description The Data Engineering Lead is a pivotal hybrid role within the Data Engineering team, combining hands-on development with leadership responsibilities. This individual will lead a squad of Data Engineers to deliver high-quality, high-velocity customer data pipelines while maintaining existing ones. The Data Engineering Lead owns end-to-end delivery including project management, data quality, and timelines and is accountable for both team output and their own individual contributions. This role requires consistently high standards in both coding and execution. What You'll be Doing: - Collaborate with the Implementation team and Data Analyst to review and own DE requirement writeups, ensuring they fully address data needs discussed in implementation calls. - Communicate timelines for deliverables to unblock Data Engineers for ETL pipeline development. - Proactively flag risks to timelines or quality to stakeholders and project managers. - Lead backlog grooming for implementation-related tickets. - Ensure team cross-coverage by making sure the DE Lead and assigned Data Engineer understand the full ETL flow, with at least two additional engineers familiar at a high level. - Conduct thorough peer reviews and DE UATs after initial UAT completion. - Design and maintain data transformation pipelines using dbt, including macros, incremental models, and dbt tests. - Work with QA and CSA teams to resolve post-UAT issues and update the DE UAT checklist. - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, and promote best practices and coding standards. - Identify and escalate inefficiencies within and across teams. - Support project management and provide leadership to peers as needed. - Author and support high-quality technical documentation, assisting junior engineers in doing the same. - Collaborate with the DE Manager to report on DE contractor performance issues.
